My new go-to in Tampa

In Tampa from Salt Lake City for a project i am managing. I had never stayed at the Epicurean but a contact of mine suggested it as his company gets a corporate rate. Arrived late (midnight) on a Monday and was shocked to see the bar area lively with patrons. The front desk guy was helpful and after a long flight from Utah, I really just wanted to wash the travel stink off me, so I was pleasantly surprised when he stated the pool area is 24/7. After a great refreshing dip, I hit the sack in an uber-comfy king bed and was out. The area is great - walkable to lots of things. The room was spacious and modern without being pretentious. Although I am not a wine guy (beer please), I appreciate the theme of the place. The only things that I would suggest to make it a better stay: 1. Modernize the televisions/remote controls. No MENU buttons, so you literally have to channel up/down to find something you want, and to someone NOT from Tampa, you have no clue what channel is what. 2. Make sure whatever bar staff is covering the pool area be attentive. I had a break after a meeting and wanted nothing more than a poolside drink, but watched as the waiter took the orders of another two parties and ignored me for the better part of 30 minutes. I had to walk to the bar are (about 200 yards) shirtless and ask for service. Overall incredible property and would stay again.

Outstanding hotel

Milwaukee, Wisconsin

We stayed overnight as we had a late business dinner at Bern’s, which is right across the street. Hotel is quite new, very nice design, rooms, etc. But what really impressed me was the service. I needed to sign a document that was emailed to me. The front desk lady gave me her personal email so she could print the doc., and when I signed it, she scanned and emailed back to me. On top of that, my GF forgot the safe combo, and because the engineer was not immediately available due to a personal emergency, they comped us both to a full breakfast, including tax and tips. All the while apologizing for the delay when we were the dummies who forgot the combinaio. Rave reviews for the stall. Breakfast was great, too.
