Sarasota and Bradenton Holidays

Some might call it artsy, others call it vibrant. But whatever you call it, Sarasota is a fabulous mix of sun, sand, fun, and culture. This lively beach community is fringed with white strips of sugary quartz sand, consistently voted the best beaches in the world. But what we love about Sarasota is the culture. Visit the symphony, the opera, or take your pick of more than 40 art galleries to explore.

  • Beaches

An eight-mile barrier island on the Gulf Coast, Siesta Key's powdery white sand seems to stay cool no matter how high the temperature gets. As it turns out, the beach is 99 percent quartz, which stays cool even when the mercury rises elsewhere. Add refreshing Gulf breezes, warm, turquoise water, and a charming village of brick crosswalks, elegant lamps, gazebos, flowering landscaping, black olive trees, cafes, shops, and eclectic boutiques, Siesta Key is pure tropical paradise.

  • Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall

Miles of white sand stretch to the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico along Sarasota's coastline. The beaches are some of the best in the world. Crescent Beach, Turtle Beach, and the 15-mile span along Longboat Key are beautiful and accessible. Lido Key's unspoiled shores are rimmed with tranquil Florida pine forests traversed by nature trails. Caspersen Beach, the largest beach in Sarasota, offers unbroken views of rolling dunes stretching as far as the eye can see.

  • Ringing Museum of Art

Set along Sarasota's bay front in a giant, purple building, this arts hall presents a broad spectrum of performing artists from around the world, including music, dance, theatre, and comedy. Artists who have performed here include Sheryl Crow and Michael Bolton.

  • Cà d'Zan

Originally built by John Ringing to house his personal collection of art, the museum is internationally recognised for its collection of Baroque paintings and includes works by artists such as Titian, Tintoretto, Van Dyck, and El Grego. The Courtyard features 400 pieces, including statues of Greek and Roman gods and goddesses, casts of original sculptures, including David by Michelangelo, drawings, prints, and photography.

  • The Circus Museum

The palatial mansion of John and Mable Ringing, Cà d'Zan is built of terracotta, covered with stucco, and embellished with glazed tile. Cà d'Zan (House of John in the Venetian dialect) is built in a Venetian Gothic architecture combining the grandeur of Venice's Doge's Palace and the gothic grace of Venice's Cà d'Oro. The palace overlooks Sarasota Bay and features 56 beautiful rooms filled with art and original furnishings.
