Last minute booking

Exeter, United Kingdom

We decided to book a last minute trip to Disney as a treat for our son who was just about to start his first year of his university course. Booking so late (10 days before departure) meant there was only one Disney hotel available when we wanted to travel, the Art of Animation. We haven't stayed in a value resort for 10 years, but as Cars was my son's favourite film as a youngster, we booked a suite in Cars 1. We were hugely impressed with this hotel, but remember it is huge! The theming in the grounds were fantastic was life size replicas of all your newer favourite Disney characters on display. The food court was okay with several stations which we mainly used for breakfast as most lunch and evening meals being eaten in the parks. The food court and Animation Hall was only a minute walk away from the Cars buildings but other themed buildings were a bit of a walk away. The rooms were fine for us with one bedroom and 2 double beds in the living area, this also included a microwave and coffee machine. Two bathrooms were particularly useful to avoiding any queuing in the morning rush to get away. The main pool was always busy and we preferred to use the one by the Cars buildings which were always quiet.Staff were great as usual. We thought there were two areas to improve. In the food court, the cashiers served two lines alternating between each which meant that sometimes by the time you sat down your hot breakfast was cold. We arrived at reception at 5 pm to check in but had to wait an hour before being served. After a long flight, this was frustrating. The online check in queue was only slightly shorter. We found the buses patchy but were surprised that the bus stops at the parks were the furthest away which could mean quite a walk. Overall, we loved this hotel and thought its the best of the value resorts. The question is would we go back ? I think if the deal was good yes, but if we have to pay full price, we still prefer the Moderate's with Port Orleans French Quarter our favourite.

Fantastic family resort

Leeds, United Kingdom

I had originally planned to stay at All Stars Movies, but changed my booking through my tour operator 2 months before travel to AoA as my son is a huge Nemo fan. When we got to the hotel to check in after a 9.5 hour flight with a tired 2 year old in tow, I was told that I didn't have a reservation at AoA, it was still down as All Stars. I was fuming and immediately got on the phone to TUI, whilst Danielle on check in went in to the back to see if she could sort it. I was told by TUI my booking was correct, and I should be at AoA and they would call and sort it out and call me back. Before TUI had called me back, the fantastic staff at AoA had already arranged to have our magic bands sent across, set up temporary ones, and upgraded us to a Cars suite, as the room type we had booked and paid for was full. I'm so grateful to Marina and Danielle on check in for sorting it all for my family, when essentially it wasn't Disney's problem to sort, it was TUI that had messed up! Fantastic customer service. The hotel has great theming throughout. We were in the Cars section in the Casa Della Tires block, and it was brilliant. we had a view over the pool and the fabulous theming of the other blocks. The whole place is spotlessly clean, and really well maintained. Housekeeping was brilliant. we were given the choice to opt out of housekeeping in return for a $90 gift card. we chose to keep it as we like our beds made and fresh towels, bins emptied etc. The food court has plenty of choice from 4 different counters for hot food, and there's plenty of other choice of cold food and drinks as well. We were on the dining plan and the whole thing was really straight forward. We ate there on a few occasions and enjoyed every meal. I can't think of a single bad thing to say about this place. I expected some noise from the building of the new gondola system, which was directly behind our block, but can honestly say we never heard a thing. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone travelling with small children, and cant recommend the cars suite enough. We visited a few of the other hotels including some of the delux hotels, and I can honestly say I would rather stay at the Art of Animation and can't wait to book my next trip there.
