Very relaxing but wished for a quieter room

Our family stayed in an Old Key West studio in building 34 the last week of Aug. First the positives. Every cast member we deal with was amazing. So friendly. Staff at Goods food to go, Gurgling Suitcase and the lifeguard team were all excellent. We had a fantastic meal at Olivias for breakfast on our last day and we really enjoyed the boat ride to Disney Springs. We did the "Secrets of Conch Flats" Tour one morning and that was a great way to learn all about the detail and history of the resort. Now the downsides. When I first saw the map I thought 34 was a great location. Very close to the Turtle Pond quiet pool and right across from the bus stop. Unfortunately this was no the case. The buses though were so noisy. The window faces right out onto the bus stop (our room was 3420) the brakes drove me batty. In hindsight I wish I would have asked to move the first night but I don't like to be a pain and we had already completely unpacked. We were in a studio attached to a one bedroom and found the noise from the adjoining room also very bad. My only other complaint was the lack of natural light in our room. Now this will vary widely depending on your room, location , angle of the building etc. We had pretty much no natural light come into the room. Nothing from the bedroom window at all (completely shaded all day long) and the sliding door to the patio was surrounded by very dense trees and greenery, lovely to look at but I missed the sun shining right into our room.

Truly felt like “Coming Home”

Bluffton, South Carolina

As a DVC member you are used to the resorts say welcome home when you check in, but we truly felt at home here. Old Key West is our home resort but I has been a while since we have been there. It is a very comfortable resort with big rooms. A two bedroom can sleep 9 people with a pull out couch and chair. You can tell the rooms were refurbished and were well decorated. We had a small problem with ants in the room but they came immediately and took care of them. It has two restaurants, a sit down and fast food and a small bar area, could be a bit bigger. The only transport to the parks is a bus but they publish the bus times on the Mydisneyexperience app as well as at each bus stop. There is a boat to Disney Springs which is very convenient for shopping and eating out. It is a large resort so getting a room near the Hospitality Center is recommended. There is an internal bus to help get around. My husband had a problem with his magic band that did not work when we got to the parks. We stopped at the front desk to get it resolved when we got back and the person who helped us, apologized and to make up for it, got us some free desserts and extra passes. Nice touch. They do want you to feel like home.
