Seaside charm at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn

The waterfront has never been quite as charming as in this deluxe Disney resort. Let the young ones zip down the Coney-Island inspired roller coaster pool slide, stroll outside amidst the carnival sights and ragtime sounds of the beautiful boardwalk and sample elegant fine dining at the Flying Fish Cafe. The quaint, seaside mid-Atlantic feel is accentuated by all the shops, vendors, and glittering excitement of the nearby Disney's BoardWalk plus the location puts you near the heart of the park - within walking distance of Epcot and a boat ride away from Disney's Hollywood Studios.

Disney Family and Disability Perspective

kbird

I had broken my leg a few months earlier and was still able to go on vacation. So I’m writing this from a disability perspective. As soon as I found out I was still able to go on my trip, I had my travel agent call Disney’s Boardwalk Inn. Initially, I was informed that they didn’t have any handicap rooms available but would be able to assist with a tub transfer chair. When we checked in (8-8:30 am) our room was already available. I also requested a shower bench for the tub which they were able to accommodate that made getting in and out of the shower much easier. Rooms were big enough to drive a scooter in there for charging at night. The room was located on the first floor. So from the lobby (2nd floor), I had to take an elevator down. The room view was looking over the courtyard. From the first floor you have access to the courtyard. There is no access to the “boardwalk” from the first floor. In order to get to the “boardwalk” we took the elevator back up to the first floor, and took another elevator designated to get to boardwalk. There are stair to go to the boardwalk close to the elevator or from the lobby for those who are able to walk or not need assistance. The Boardwalk Inn is an easy walk to Epcot or if you time it right you can jump on the boat. Boats put down a ramp so you can get the scooter on and off with ease. There’s also designated spots in the boat for handicap/scooters. In order to get around,I rented a scooter from one of Disney’s preferred companies. The scooter was there when I arrived. The bell/luggage handler brought my scooter out along with our luggage to the lobby. It was easy to return the scooter because it was dropped off at the bell/luggage station at the end of my rental period. Getting around Disney resorts is easy by bus. There's a special handicap area where you wait and the drivers assist you getting on and off the bus. My sincere thanks to the bus drivers for your patience with me as I learned how to maneuver the scooter for the first couple of tries. Overall a pleasant stay at the Boardwalk Inn. Would I stay here again, no I don't think so because been there done that. There's so many other resorts to visit. Right my my favorite resort is the Wilderness Lodge. . Side notes: A group of us went to the AbracadaBra bar for a drink after dinner. It’s a small bar, more like a hole in the wall. We sat down and waited, and waited but no server came. We got up and left. We strolled down to the Jellyrolls, it was around 8:30 PM. There was no one there and music was loud. I parked my scooter only to find out we were being charged $15 each for a cover charge which didn’t include anything. Needless to say, we didn’t go there.

Best Hotel!!

Toms River, New Jersey

We stayed here mid May of 2017 (I had to list it as June because I waited too long to review!) The hotel is AMAZING! The room was very spacious and very clean. Our 3 year old loved the little pull down bed, perfect size for him! The pool was always clean, plenty of seating and activities. The lifeguards were all friendly and observant. The lobby and other common areas were clean as well. The staff everywhere were all super friendly and welcoming. We had a Boardwalk View room and my husband and I loved sitting on the balcony at night people watching. We've stayed at other Disney resorts but this is by far our favorite. Being able to walk into Epcot is just amazing. Having the boat to Hollywood Studios is also amazing! The bus rides to other parks weren't bad at all. There were plenty of buses coming, never had to wait long for one. I highly, highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in Disney. It is worth the high price tag! We just booked our trip for 2019 and will be staying at the Boardwalk again!
