Beautiful grounds but accommodations need work

Lansing, Michigan

We were here for a wedding at the height of the tourist off season (late August 2018). The property itself is beautiful as one side faces the ocean and the other the bay. This property is located as far as one can drive on Captiva Island and is about an hour drive from the mainland. However, we found our room to be lacking but since we paid a low season rate, we were not too disappointed. If I had paid the high season rate, I would have been complaining. Rates do not include a $39 per night resort fee, which is a rip off but we knew this going in. We were staying in what is called a bayside villa, which is really an apartment in an old apartment building. Villa overlooked the bay and the mangrove forest and had an enclosed porch. The enclosed porch was off a small living room area with a pull out couch and was connected to a full kitchen. Bedroom was at the front of the apartment and while it was spacious, it had no view. What we liked the most about the villa were the two separate full bathrooms. What we liked the least about the unit was it did not seem fully clean and the furniture was dated. The sheets on the bed felt cheap and scratchy and the mattress on the bed sagged. The exterior of the building is not appealing either and definitely needs refreshing. Definitely not 5 star accommodations. Overall, three stars four the accommodations and five stars for the property and area, average out to four stars.

Excellent time!

Second trip to South Seas and will not be out last! Love the multi bedroom beach villa accommodations. Pools are plentiful and amazing! (My 5&8 year old love the waterslides - husband too lol!) Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Resort is gorgeous!!
