Just disgusting!

Strasbourg, France

A five star hotel which worths 2 or 3 stars! All the hotel need improvements, still old and suites are dark and not clean. Beach is not clean also and useless. I do not advise this hotel which is over classified and do not respect the rules and minimum level of a 3 or 4 stars hotel. Sorry but I was so disappointed. One good thing : the personal accepts the situation and opened to discuss to find a solution that we unfortunately do not find

NOT what you'd expect (or want) from a Waldorf Astoria

Chicago, Illinois

I want to make it clear this review does not apply to the pool and restaurant staff. They were fantastic and are by far this property's saving grace (and the only reason I gave two stars instead of one). We first pulled up around 6:30 PM and noticed a sign that we had to valet, but there was no one to greet us, so we got out of the car with our luggage and just kind of stood there looking around. Finally someone came down the steps and casually asked us if we were checking in (we later noticed he liked to hang out in the lobby talking to the ladies at the Front Desk). Ok fine, so it's Key West, they're more casual here (we thought). Walk into the lobby and "underwhelming" is not a strong enough word. Very reminiscent of a low budget hotel, not a Waldorf. We check in (nothing about our Diamond status, and don't you dare ask about upgrades, there aren't any, which was said with a "why are you even asking we're obviously full" attitude), and walk to the rickety looking elevator, which is through two basic glass doors. In front of the elevators is a sad little couch and coffee table, and only one elevator working (they later removed the sign and said the second was working, but it never came when called. Never). It's an outdoor hallway type hotel, so I get that the hallways are a little dirty and worse for the wear since they are exposed to the elements, but again, underwhelming. The bathroom vanity and door had some sort of white substance splashed all over the bottom, and a few stray hairs were on the floor. The rest of the room was fine, and the bed was great. We went to the restaurant and pool the next day, and both were perfectly nice (not Waldorf nice, but nice) and as I mentioned above, the staff was fantastic! The next day we went to the Casa Marina. I won't go into detail about it, but let's just say, THAT is a Waldorf. Doors opened upon arrival and departure, beautiful lobby and grounds, gorgeous pool and helpful staff. That's when we figured out, it's not Key West, it's our hotel. To their credit, the management did reach out via text and I told them I was disappointed and they apologized and said they have high standards (but that was it). I also filled out the Hilton managed survey after we got back, and received a response saying the management had reached out so as far as they're concerned, they're all good on their side.
