Relaxation starts here

This place has had little affect from the recent Hurricane.... some of the palms by the pool have been replaced. Our room could have had some water damage. Overall - the staff is excellent. The hotel offers a great place to bring the Family in Key West and you do not have to worry about holligans ruining your stay....

Could be so much better ...

Westport, CT

Don't let the "Waldorf Astoria" name fool you. This property has maintenance and service issues. It is a strong 3-star but not more. We chose it because it is one of few properties on Key West with a beach. We stayed in an Oceanfront 1 bedroom suite. The outside waterfront/pool area is their strongest asset. However, beware, the dock was wiped out by Irma and has yet to be re-built. This creates a challenge to get into the turquoise blue water. Walking from the beach involves trudging through coral and thick seaweed. Food at all the restaurants was excellent. Staff seems unhappy. I stood next to a water sports employee as he rambled on about how he can't wait to "get out of this hell place" and that he's had enough of his job. Not the vibe you want as you consider taking a sunset cruise! Pools are lovely and it's nice to have an adult-only option. They get a grade "C" for Maintenance and housekeeping. One day they just made our bed and left everything else including old coffee cups on the terrace, etc. Three of the five days the elevator in our building was out of order and we were on the 3rd floor. Fine to walk for us but not for the older folk in the room next to us. Not what you would expect from a high-end resort. Peeling paint. Tired facility. The front desk was very apologetic. If you go, be sure to speak up. There are good people at the desk, especially Ryan, who want the place to be cleaned up too!
