Great location, but room was noisy

Great location close to the park entrance to Yosemite. Maraposa Grove was about 15 minutes drive and the main Valley about 50 minutes. We stayed in one of the external cottages. Parking was right outside with a short walk to the main lodge. Breakfast buffet was very nice as were the evening meals we ate. Pizza place adequate. However, there was no soundproofing between our room and the other two rooms in the same building and it was very easy to hear the other guests coming and going and bumping around in their room. Also, air-con was disconnected and off when we arrived, we assumed broken, but then realised that a previous guest had turned off the power - when it came on we realised why and quickly turned it off again - it too was far too noisy. Thus I wouldn't recommend a cottage room. Children's activities were great though, Easter themed events and marshmallow toasting too - although some of the frontline staff didn't actually know when/where these were taking place so we sometimes had to find other staff members to get this information.

Beautiful area to visit

Baildon, United Kingdom

We enjoyed a two night stay here as part of a fly drive holiday organised by Virgin Holidays. The lodge was great, a very large room with a very comfortable bed. Tea and coffee making facilities were a welcome addition as we have found that many hotels in California don't offer this service. The on-site restaurant offered a decent menu however it was quite expensive and unless you want to drive to Oakhurst, thirty minutes away, you have little choice but to pay it! Top marks to Justin, our waiter both nights. His customer service skills are excellent and he was able to offer good advice and information about the menu. We would love to stay here again if we ever return to the area however I doubt we will be able to afford it, Virgin Holidays must have negotiated a good discount as the price for our room was advertised as 495 dollars a night!
