Stayed here for three nights. The room was nice but I have stayed in much nicer places for the $$. Staff on check in were pleasant but again not very informative and honestly I felt rushed. House keeping forgot water and the fire place logs. And they entered the room with out knocking on the last morning. Listened to barking dogs every night The restaurant... Food was on point, Host was with new or didn’t care. I asked for sparkling water with no citrus but got iced water with citrus. Wine selection was amazing and I really enjoyed the desert.

Promises so much, but disappoints again and again.

This is my second visit to this hotel this year and it continues to disappoint.. I really want to love this hotel because it is old, historic and I have come here for many years. The grounds are lovely but they have overdeveloped the property and they can't keep up with the amount of people they book, nor can the pool accommodate comfortably the many families that visit. I was so looking forward to swimming in the mineral water but the pool was filled with kids and very crowded. From check in to check out, it was mayhem. Upon my arrival at 5:30 on a Friday evening there were cars backed up trying to get the valets to take their cars and park them. I went and parked myself. The guys were doing their best but it was no use. It took a half hour to check in. People who were attending a wedding had been waiting a half hour for their luggage and were really angry. There was one person at the front desk and this was at 5:30. The rooms are less than exceptional and there is nothing but water to welcome you. They also have been decorated by someone who doesn't know anything about design, space planning, color or even the fact that lampshades should cover the light sockets. The beds are comfortable, but my sleep was disrupted by "Spa Music" being piped in around the property. It was not soothing. It was annoying. I did write the General Manager of the Fairmont Hotels about my check in and my stay and her response to me was...well, it was Friday night and many people were checking in. Exactly my point. Should there not have been three people at the front desk? Not one!!! I am giving this hotel two stars because it really is an upgraded Marriott. I have traveled extensively and know what a four/five star hotel is. I was also evacuated from my house and have been out of it since the Sonoma Fires. I have stayed almost everywhere in Sonoma. I will never go back and I am sorry about that. I would recommend that whoever is reading this check out the Lodge at Sonoma, Mc Arthur Place Or Gaige House. They are what they say they are. And so much more accommodating. Have good trip.
