Hotel is nice enough, but servce was disappointing

Severna Park, Maryland

This was our first trip to Napa. The Meritage facilities are nice, however, we had several bad experiences from a service perspective. Booking the room by phone was difficult and the representative intentionally tried to overcharge us (there was a discount which she conveniently declined to offer until I specifically requested it). On check-in, the staff was rude and unaccommodating after a long day of travel. Lastly, we had a minor issue with our room requiring a service associate. The front desk was clearly unhappy that we had bothered them with our room issue. We will be back to Napa, but we'll certainly stay somewhere else on our next visit.

Beautiful Resort - Disappointing Service

We spent the past weekend at the Meritage Resort to celebrate our birthdays. We were hoping for a nice relaxing weekend with great service at a beautiful local. The Meritage property is lovely and well maintained. Our room was very nice and everything was in working order. I was very pleased with the resort amenities and our room had a lovely view. The service was extremely disappointing and turned what we had hoped was going to be a special weekend into just an average experience that we would expect from any mid-level hotel. Check-in was very slow, they were experiencing some kind of computer issue and had to try a couple times to check us in and even switch computers. Not a big deal but I guess because it had taken so long they did not tell us information that they are supposed to share. Like there is a 25 dollar a day resort fee that includes things like the complimentary valet. I had no idea the valet was complimentary until we checked out and the person checking us out thought it would be a good time to list all the things the resort fee includes. I was not sure they had free wifi but I figured they must so I figured that one out on my own. There was nothing in the room that explained what was included and we were not told at check-in. Do not go to Sienna for breakfast. Way overpriced for Denny's quality food and Denny's has better service. The host ran to a table with 4 seats and plopped down two menus and random seats and took off before we arrived. Then they could not find a spoon for us to mix our milk in our coffee. Then when my breakfast came the toast was cold and dry. When I asked for new toast as this toast was cold they did the mature thing and brought me burnt toast. It was just an awful breakfast. It was a very disappointing weekend for us. I would like to stay at the resort again because of the wonderful amenities it has but I have a hard time recommending it to anyone as a high-end experience.
