Stunning rooftop but hotel needs updating

Melbourne, Australia

The highlight of this hotel was definitely the roof top and pool area. The views are stunning across LA and the hills and the bar has a great vibe. Unfortunately the hotel itself is a little dated and we paid a premium to stay here over New Years so it was very disappointing. The lobby and downstairs restaurant had a completely different decor to the rooms and felt very dated and old and the furniture was very worn and tatty. The rooms were quite large and modern and the bed was super comfy, however the rooms could do with an upgrade as the furniture was a little damaged and felt a little tired. Location is perfect – a very short stroll to Rodeo Drive and lots of restaurants and shopping nearby. I probably wouldn't stay here again as I felt the staff were quite casual and the hotel just didn't have a luxury boutique feel but I would pop in for a drink at the rooftop as that was a great space.

New York City, New York

This is described as a luxury hotel. My sink was broken, theer show drain needed a serious cleaning, and the phone next to the bed didn't work--which seems minor except that the walls are very thin (I could hear conversations in the next room) and when someone on the floor had an alarm going off at 6am I couldn't call down but had to get out of bed, turn on the light and find the phone on the desk in order to ask them to turn it off. All kinda minor, but I haven't had these issues at a Holiday Inn and certainly wouldn't expect it at a luxury hotel.

Rooftop Pool

It's not often you can admire views of Beverly Hills whilst sipping a cocktail but at this pool rooftop terrace you can do both at the same time. Cool down in the pool or soak up the sun on a lounger and enjoy food and drinks at the nearby Above SIXTY bar.
