Nice, but not exquisite

Herndon, Virginia

This is certainly a signature hotel in a great location near the offices in century city. The rooms are comfortable, have a great view, and relatively quiet considering the location on Santa Monica Blvd. I came for a 3 week business trip. To get AARP's best rate, I prepaid the 17 day stay, totalling over $5,000. However, I was disappointed in the inconsistencies to room service, the expensive parking of $45 (which, btw, made me valet a couple of days, and when I went to get the valet the next morning, there was a line so long I just walked to work). I had to ask them to make my key card work in the garage. They closed the garage on 4/23 with my car in it, and the machine at the exit said that the card wouldnt work. I tried the card and it worked. Nobody told me there was a house car that would bring me up to 1.5 miles and picked me up. Every day I had to bring a glass from the room into the bathroom, and when the maids cleaned, they didnt leave a glass in the bath room. A few days, they took the towels that I hung (indicating I'd use them again) but left the bath mat on the floor and did not leave me new soap that I had used up. They didnt replace the stationary in my room. I had to ask for envelopes and paper at the front desk. (I used them for thank you notes with people who I had dinner with....) NOT ONE doorman opened the front door of the hotel for me or welcomed me to the hilton after the first day. Coffee in circa 55, their restaurant, cost $6.95. When I finally got "to go" cups in my room, I stopped ordering that. So, as a critical consumer, I started to look at the room. Dirty air ducts with black around them. Some spots on the walls. Mr. Hilton would not have been happy. And yes, all of this was reported to the front desk during my stay. While the front desk apologized, heard nothing else.

Elegance

Claremont, California, United States

The Beverly Hilton treats you as well as the celebrities and heads of state they have served over the decades. The food, service, and pool are top notch. Also very quiet. The concierge was especially helpful.
