Rockefeller Centre

No matter the season, come for the shops, the eats and the stargazing here in NBC Studios' backyard.

We love talking holidays and we're here to help. If you'd like our advice on how to create an amazing New York State holiday, just give our Destination Specialists a call.

If you’re visiting New York at Christmas, the Rockefeller Centre should be high on your itinerary. Skate across the ice rink or head to the observation decks for stunning skyline views.

A visit to New York City wouldn't be complete without a trip to Midtown Manhattan where you will find the famous landmark, Rockefeller Centre. Go 70 floors up to the Top of the Rock Observation Desk where you will have a 360 degree view of the city; make sure its a clear day so you can make the most of the sights. The place to be seen and to see though is the Rainbow Room on the 65th floor, make sure you stop to have a drink and relax, especially if you took the stairs.

Our favorite time is in the winter when skaters can glide across the rink which is open from October but the best time to go is when thousands of lights gleam from the always-enormous Christmas tree. The turning on of the lights is usually just after Thanks Giving at the end of November and stay on until early January and so if you can don't miss this spectacular landmark.

In the warmer months the ice rink is replaced with the Summer Garden and Bar Cafe which has outdoor seating where you can enjoy great food or just have a cocktail in the sunshine and watch the world go by. We would really recommend going for Brunch as it is just another experience you can mark if your wishlist.

"Most amazing place to in both Winter and Summer and I am lucky enough to have been in both seasons. Ice skating is just so much fun and to be able to say I have done it at the Rockefeller Centre is just amazing. During the Summer I had lunch in the Summer Garden Cafe; the food was delicious and before I knew it we had been there 3 hours just enjoying the cocktails and the people watching. Best time is as Brunch is ending and Lunch is starting - not too busy and you will most likely get a table without having to pre-book"
