This safari itinerary will show you the best of Uganda including memorable jungle experiences with the endangered mountain gorillas and chimpanzees, fabulous game drives and nature walks, boat cruises on some of the most amazing bodies of water and glorious sight-seeing. Staying in some beautiful accommodation, this safari offers an excellent introduction to this largely overlooked country.

Itinerary Breakdown

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be met by your guide who will accompany you throughout this safari and transfer to your hotel in Kampala, this journey should take around one hour traffic permitting . The rest of the day is at leisure and an evening meal will be available in the hotel up to 10.00pm.

Depart Kampala and travel to Fort Portal (approx. five hours), the route is incredibly scenic, passing through tea plantations and the lush green countryside which characterises so much of Uganda.  This afternoon relax at your lodge which is located about 40 minutes from Kibale forest before taking a guided walk around the lodge for breath-taking views of the crater lakes and Rwenzori mountain ranges. Dinner this evening is at your lodge.

Kibale forest boasts of the highest number of primate species in the world, your ranger for today's tracking will conduct a briefing at 07.30am and then take you into the forest to try and located the chimpanzees. Once you find them you will spend an hour with them, watching their daily activities and behaviour. In the afternoon, drive via the scenic crater lakes region to Queen Elizabeth National Park (approx. town and a half hours). Relax in your lodge which is found in the heart of the park and enjoy the beautiful landscape and peaceful surroundings. Dinner is available at your own leisure in the lodge.

Up and out early this morning for a 06.30am dawn game drive in Kasenyi plains for big game viewing. Catch the first rays of African sun rising as you search for wildlife like lion, elephant, buffalo, warthog and Uganda Kob. Take a two-hour boat cruise on the majestic Kazinga Channel known for its high concentration of hippos in the water and look out for animals located on the banks as well as many colourful birds, this is undoubtedly one of the highlights of this park. Dinner will be back at your lodge this evening.

Drive further south in Queen Elizabeth National Park to the Ishasha sector, home to the famous tree-climbing lions, a real phenomenon compared with other big cats you may have encountered in Africa before. After lunch, continue through the lush green countryside to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, this park is home to the mountain gorillas, 113 mammal species and 360 bird species. Relax for the evening at your lodge with dinner included.

The big day is here........join your group for a briefing from your ranger at 07.30am before starting the tracking experience. Enjoy the jungle walk to locate your gorilla family, this can take on average between two and six hours in total. Once located you are allowed to watch the gorillas for one hour as they eat, play, groom, swing and sleep, this is a truly special and unique experience. This afternoon take a relaxed community walk if time allows followed by dinner back at your lodge.

Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park stopping at Igongo Cultural Centre for a local lunch and a quick peep in the museum  (approx. four to five hours). Continue to your final destination Lake Mburo National Park (approx. one and a half hours). Check in at your lodge, perched up high on a rock with spectacular views over the vast savannah landscape. Later, go for a late afternoon game drive in search of game including giraffe, zebra, eland, waterbuck and more. Dinner tonight is at your lodge.

Start your day bright and early with a two-hour guided nature walk among animals such as impalas, giraffe and zebra and beautiful birds. At 10.00am transfer to Entebbe passing by the Equator, stopping to stretch your legs and enjoy photo moments as well as an opportunity for souvenir shopping . Relax in Entebbe until it is time for your guide to take you to the airport for your flight home.
