Bird Watching Tobago

Experience The Endemic Birds Of Tobago

On this tiny island there are more than 200 species of birds. This tiny strip of land, also called Bird of Paradise Island, only extends for one mile, but is home to numerous exotic birds. The area is filled with birds of paradise from New Guinea, from which the island gets its name. Head for Grafton Caledonia Wildlife Sanctuary, the Main Ridge Forest Reserve, or Little Tobago Island, a tiny offshore island, to see an array of colourful birds. Many of the birds are endemic to Tobago and aren’t even seen on Trinidad, including the red-crowned woodpecker, the red-billed tropic bird, the turkey-like Chachalaca, the national bird of Tobago, and the blue-grey tanager.
