Reaching from a hillside down to a secluded private bay, the Bacolet Beach Club is a contemporary boutique hotel with a quintessentially Caribbean character. Each room has a private veranda with views of the sea and are individually furnished inside with four poster king-sized beds. The hotel's restaurant Cafe Havana is Caribbean food with a Latin twist. There is a second restaurant D'Rum Shop, a lounge and a beach bar too. Sip a cocktail by the pool or head into nearby Scarborough and enjoy its popular shops, bars and tourist spots.

  • Each room has a balcony with sea views
  • Boutique hotel of only 50 rooms and suites
  • Authentic Caribbean-Latin cuisine at the restaurant
  • Steps away from a secluded beach

Good but could be great

Chippenham, United Kingdom

We liked the Bacelot beach hotel despite several frustrations. With just 60 bedrooms, the hotel, which rambles over several buildings is a world away from the corporate chains that populate much of the Caribbean. Our room (34) was probably best described as ‘Shabby Chic’ or possibly ‘Grubby Chic’ on first impression, as the entrance door was dirty and there were scuff marks on the walls as we entered. The room itself had some nice furnishing and a, super king sized, four poster bed that was wonderfully comfortable. In the course of the first hour we had to ask for: tea, coffee, milk (which we later had to get from the restaurant); additional coat hangers and a hair dryer! All were delivered promptly by friendly staff but a little attention to detail would have meant most of these things being sorted before we arrived. Meals are served in the Havana restaurant. Perfectly acceptable food but a never changing menu. Easy to see why there are so many comments about this on TripAdvisor from those staying more than a few days. There are three small swimming pools scattered around and a great beach down a long, steep flight of steps. Here there are loads of sun loungers, good shade and a good beach bar which is let down badly by the toilets which don’t’ look like they’ve had a proper clean for months. Also, we warned, the tide comes right in and covers the whole beach (including submerging the sunbeds!) Interestingly, if you read back over Tripadvisor Reviews in the past 2 years you do see that many of the gripes about the hotel have been addressed so hopefully thing will continue to improve. We would return! TOP TIPs Despite the hotel being described as ‘isolated’ it is only a 15-minute walk into Scarborough, the capital city! Probably only best done during the daytime for security reasons and the fact there isn’t a pavement/sidewalk. Make sure you have a good look around the various hotel buildings, there are some lovely areas, particularly in the reception for the ‘old’ hotel across the road from the new buildings which looks straight out of a 1950s movie. The tap water in Tobago is perfectly OK to drink however there is a small convenience store about 300 metres from the hotel if you need cheap bottled water or snacks.

Nice place to relax

Do not look for the streets with fancy shops. This place for real relaxation. Located on Atlantic side of Ocean in front of private small beach with bar for drinks and food. Two nice pools, tropical trees and flowers.Beautiful. Friendly stuff. At front desk Ms. Thessa Samuya, extremly nice person, who can handle any problem and very helpful. The restaurant is on territory of hotel, very convenient. You have to go two or three times to the beach on Caribbean side. ( Pigeon Point Beach is the best)You must. Only do not use hotel transportation, they call it taxi, but it is not and cost twice expensive ten normal city taxi. We stayed 8 days and we have got what we wanted: relaxation, peace, quiet, tropical weather, nice room, good quality food. a couple of excursion for snorkeling .What you need else?

Facilities

Beach

Due to the location of the property, the hotel has its very own secluded bay. A quiet and tranquil beach perfect for spending quiet lazy afternoons. There are a large number of steps from the property down to the beach so we do not recommend for anyone with walking or mobility difficulties.

Swimming Pool

Take a dip in the hotel's pool, the hotel is quiet and is the perfect place to unwind and cool off under the Tobago sun
