Conrad Samui

Exclusive clifftop hideaway overlooking five islands

The Conrad Samui really is an incredible resort.  Perched on a hillside surrounded by lush tropical coconut plantations, with the glistening sea below, this is a superb and tranquil location to admire the gorgeous sunset.  Each of the 80 villas have a private pool set against a dramatic backdrop and panoramic views across the gulf of Thailand. Enjoy nature’s soundtrack from the tropical gardens, and take in the beautiful fauna found so readily in this resort.

There are plenty of on-site activities to enjoy including a large infinity pool, a luxurious spa to sooth the spirit and activity classes such as Thai kick boxing and yoga.  Swim out to the resorts floating pier to sunbathe, or swing in the over water hammocks. The water is crystal clear, perfect for snorkelling and diving. If you would like to explore further afield, there is a complimentary daily speedboat shuttle to to a nearby island, and a complimentary daily shuttle service to/from Chaweng Beach.

Great Hotel and management

Los Angeles, California

I have stayed here for 3 days but I felt that it was not enough. It located a little far from the town center so I literally spent all my vacation in the hotel. tried Jahn's restaurant, Zest, KO lounge, Poolside restaurant, sunset excursion. Seb is a great manager and a cool guy. Hope to come back again.

Gorgeous Room, Customer Service Needed Work.

My husband and I went to the Conrad for the last days of our honeymoon, he’s a Hilton gold member and the property looked gorgeous so it was a no-brainer for us that we would stay there. The property was gorgeous, every room was a cliff-side pool villa. The rooms were amazing, but we were a little disappointed in the customer service - especially since my husband was a Hilton gold member. This was our 3rd hotel stay for our honeymoon and this was the only hotel who didn’t do anything complimentary or special for our stay. We paid for majority of this stay with our points and we felt that we weren’t held as high in priority for doing so. Our host for our stay promised a complimentary rose bath for our special occasion, but never delivered. There was no members lounge on the property, so they gave us 2 drink vouchers for the 4 day stay. We asked if we could have more, our host said he would give us 4 more since it was our honeymoon - he never did. They also kept pushing us to arrange activities and dinners at the hotel, which I understand is part of their job. There was a change due to weather one day for an excursion, so we moved a dinner around - however it was on a day that we hate a late cooking class. An hour later after we moved our schedule around, we realized we weren’t going to be hungry for this huge feast and told them we wanted to cancel. We went back and forth with the host via WhatsApp for almost an hour where he said we couldn’t cancel it because they already acquired all of the ingredients for the in-villa barbecue. They were acting like we were inconveniencing them by cancelling a $300+ dinner that we weren’t even hungry for. The English speaking was also really bad here. We understand that we are in a foreign country, and maybe we would’ve had lower expectations but the other 2 hotels we stayed at in Thailand had exceptional communication, both were less expensive than this one. The people working the front desk and room service had no idea what we were saying when we would call. It was very frustrating. The property isn’t walkable, which is fine with us - but I know some people prefer to be able to easily walk around. You have to call a buggy/golf cart to do anything. It’s on very steep hills, so it’s difficult and dangerous to walk around. You can’t even get a bucket of ice without calling someone to bring it. We would call in advance if we knew we had an activity so the buggy would be there on time. It was 50/50 on whether they would be on time. For example, i asked for one at 7:30 one day and I called to ask where it was. They said “you said 7:50” - again the English communicating was an issue. The location of the Conrad is also very far from most attractions on the island. Like an hour from the airport, an hour from the elephant sanctuary we went to, and an hour from the fisherman’s market area. Once again, this is ideal for some people, but maybe not for the traveler who is excited to explore the town and restaurants outside of the resort. They have a “5 star” restaurant on site, that was good, but in my opinion not worth the cost. The service was really bad. Looked like they had one waiter for the entire place and he wasn’t great. The wine pours were less than a standard glass and we were being charged double, so that was frustrating. It was a multi-course meal, and there was so long between courses that we grew really tired and frustrated after awhile, we were ready to go after like 3 courses. However, there was a portion where we got to go in the kitchen for a course and the staff back there was wonderful. We loved the chefs and loved having that experience back there. We also revisited Jahn for our cooking class and had a wonderful experience with the chefs again. Highly recommend the cooking class at the restaurant, probably not the multi-course dining experience though. The food at the resort was delicious overall. The in-room dining was great, we really enjoyed it! The floating breakfast is a MUST! The guys bringing in-room dining were great the whole trip. The property was gorgeous, I feel bad even being disappointed in the stay because the amenities are wonderful. We had just experienced such wonderful hospitality in Bangkok and Krabi, and good communication our entire Thailand trip until we got to the Conrad, so it was kind of a disappointing end to our honeymoon. My husband decided to move forward as a Marriott member for his work travel from here on out.
