River Kwai Float House

Hidden gem in peaceful location

The only way to reach this unusual hotel is by boat – as the resort actually floats on the river Kwai, surrounded by thick jungle. The location is peaceful and breathtakingly beautiful, and is wonderful retreat from the busy city of Bangkok.

Our two night, three day tour explores the best of the Kanchanburi area and the River Kwai with visits to the Thailand-Burma (Death Valley) Railway centre, war cemetery, River Kwai Bridge, Hellfire pass memorial and Mon Tribal Village. There is plenty of opportunity to sit back and unwind in this unique setting. Maybe have an indulgent massage, enjoy the non-motorised water sports or simply read a book and listen to nature’s soundtrack.

Wonderful spot

New York City, New York

After driving almost 3 hours from Bangkok, I was first driven to a port where a boat picked us up with our luggage for about a 15 minute ride to the Float House dock. The rooms are floating in the water. Spacious rooms with canopy beds and large bathroom - all with wooden floors. All rooms have water views with private porch. All the help was cordial and polite. TheRe is so much history in the area mostly about WW2.

There are many floating hotel options on the River Kwai in this area however the Floathouse is by far the best quality experience in terms of room design, location, and the outstanding facilities. beautifully located and easy to access by boat from the nearby boat ramp. Rooms are absolutely beautiful, well appointed, very comfortable and set up for pure relaxation. The only minor downside here is you are virtually a 'captive audience' for the restaurant and the food is very average - but great restaurant service and the restaurant outlook is spectacular. A highly recommended Hotel.
