Hidden Gem in Peaceful location

The only way to reach this unusual hotel is by boat – as the resort actually floats on the river Kwai, surrounded by thick jungle. The location is peaceful and breathtakingly beautiful, and is wonderful retreat from the busy city of Bangkok.

Our 2 night / 3 day tour explores the best of the Kanchanburi area and The River Kwai with visits to the Thailand-Burma (Death Valley) Railway centre, War Cemetery, River Kwai Bridge, Hellfire pass memorial and Mon Tribal Village. There is plenty of opportunity to sit back and unwind in this unique setting. Maybe have an indulgent massage, enjoy the non-motorised water sports or simply read a book and listen to nature’s soundtrack.

Floating hotel on the River Kwai

Canton of Zurich, Switzerland

This is an amazing hotel complex floating on the river. Each room has a terrace where you can sit outside and watch the boats go by plus there is a further deck with a swinging chair, really cool. The rooms are really attractive with lots of nautical rope hanging down from the ceiling and walls, the Chalets have a native design to them which makes them quite charming, but you have all the luxury of a good hotel. It is possible to go into the water but most people don’t as there is a very strong current, if you do you can wear a life jacket, let the current sweep you along and then get out of the water at the end of the hotel complex where there are flags warning not to go further. You arrive and leave by boat so once you are there that’s it. To go on trips the boats come and get you and bring you back. We stayed 2 nights as we were visiting the the river Kwai museum and death railway sights. Our guide told us a lot people only stay one night then move to another hotel along the river with Bungalows and a swimming pool. The food is good most people take the buffet in the evening which changes each day although you can order separate dishes. It was truly a unique experience and I can fully recommend it.

What a neat experience!

We took the train up to Kanchanaburi and then a cab up to the FloatHouse. What a neat experience! The scenery was breathtaking. Probably wouldn't recommend for more than two days as there is no electricity but if you are looking for a nice side trip, look no further. Good could have been a bit better but can't have it all :) Staff was great and they even offer massages.
