Even if you don't make the hard slog to the top, it's still an amazing sight to see; rising above the clouds and glowing amber as the sun rises and sets behind it. It truly is an iconic jewel of South Africa's landscape and must not be missed off your itinerary.

When I hiked to the top in 2016 it was the most amazing experience of my life, I cannot wait for my next challenge. Though you do not have to hike all the way as there are day walks available or just enjoy the view from nearby lodges and camps.
