Highlights of Northern Tanzania

Highlights of Northern Tanzania takes you on a comprehensive journey through some of the country's best-loved national parks.

Venture through Lake Manyara National Park and observe arid land, forest and a fluctuating soda lake. Although one of Tanzania's smaller parks, Manyara boasts diverse terrain and is one of the best places to spot rhino, flamingos, tree-climbing lions and herds of elephant. Next you'll explore the Serengeti, with its abundance of wildlife, and witness the epic scale of the Annual Migration: 1.5 million wildebeest and 200,000 zebra pounding the dusty plains on their way to the verdant Masai Mara.

Continue on to the spectacular Ngorongoro Conservation Area, taking in the world's largest inactive, intact and unfilled volcanic caldera. At 610 metres deep and with its floor covering 260 square kilometres, the Ngorongoro Crater formed when a huge volcano erupted and collapsed inward approximately two to three million years ago and it is now home to an array of wildlife, including lions, black rhino, Cape buffalo, hippo, zebra, Thompson's gazelle and impala.

After the thrill of your five-day safari, what could be better than retreating to the powdery sands and turquoise shallows of the paradise island of Zanzibar –  the perfect end to your African getaway.
