A rare Indian Ocean gem

Situated along an idyllic beach on the beautiful Pemba Island, the Manta Resort offers privacy, romance, adventure & water sports on one of East Africa's finest island sanctuaries.

Situated within thatched buildings, a choice of elegantly decorated rooms and villas are available and blend perfectly with the tropical surroundings providing memorable holiday accomodation. For the ultimate in luxury opt for the underwater room which floats in the ocean, a once in a life time opportunity. Here you can admire the marine life, enjoy a fully stocked fridge and sunbathe on the upper deck. For meals, the hotel’s restaurant serves freshly prepared cuisine, handpicked by the team. Escape to the Manta Resort and relax at one of the Indian Ocean's best kept secrets.

The crown jewel at Manta Resort is their 'Under water room'. This is a fantastic experience of  spending a night alone in a floating room beneth the seas surface, watching the fish swim by - sometimes in three or four layers of different species. This is a truly memoriable experience.

Close to paradise

This is not for you who wants absolute luxury. This is for us who prefer quietness, fresh air, beautiful surroundings, delicious food and getting close to the locals. Go on trips with local fishermen, play football on the beach with kids from the village. Extra plus for not having WiFi everywhere. Remember to bring unused t-shirts, shorts, dresses and summer shoes, to give away as locals are poor. School materials and kids books in English are also appreciated.

Amazing !

Oxford, United Kingdom

An amazing, relaxing holiday ... Arrived from Zanzibar at the island airport and we were met by out 'taxi driver' to take us to the hotel. It was about an hour and a half drive through the small villages, countryside and the Rain Forest. When we arrived we were greeted by our valet, Idi, who was on hand throughout our stay - he served our meals and was available for any trips that we wished to take. We had a Garden Room which was very nice and clean. There was plenty of storage space. Hair dryers are available. It would have been nice if there had been a 'move able', fold up screen between the shower area and the bedroom area. Toiletries - shower gel, shampoo and conditioner are supplied, and there is plenty of it. There was also plenty of hot water throughout the day. There is a 15kg luggage allowance on the plane - but it really was very easy (as I found out) - shoes .. flip flops will suffice for everything. Beachwear/cover-up can be worn for breakfast and lunch and loose, lightweight clothing for the evening. There is a daily laundry service which is included (again this makes packing light very easy). There were daily spa treatments included in our stay - we could choose from neck massage, full body massage, manicure or pedicure (along with other treatments), which were incredibly relaxing and provided by lovely, friendly staff. There were plenty of sunloungers (and towels) by the pool, each with an umbrella as the sun is very harsh, or on the beach - shade can be found under the trees. The sand was beautiful - soft and white and the sea was lovely and warm. We went for the diving and the dive school was excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The dive boat left from the resort and the closest House Reef was about a 5 minute ride away. There are also reefs about an hour away down the coast which are well worth the trip. Cocktails at the beach bar whilst watching the sun set was a must. Overall a lovely relaxing stay with very friendly, attentive staff.
