Absolute Idyllic paradise

Colchester, Essex

This place is special. It is absolutely stunningly beautiful - just idyllic. The customer service is exemplary and the staff are brilliant from the General manager to the guys who kept the grounds looking great. Everyone was genuinely pleased to talk to you and happy to see you. We had a beach front room (number 14) which was so close to the sea it was just great (I love falling asleep to the sound of the waves). The food was out of this world and massive credit to Chef Baka who really cares about his cuisine. I thoroughly recommend the lunch time sashimi which I had every day bar 1. Katie and her top team have really cracked it in terms of customer experience and I must admit to feeling slightly emotional when it was time to leave this paradise island. What would I improve?. Not a lot but I did find it a little quiet in terms of activities and entertainment. It was there but you had to seek it out or make your own entertainment. Having said that if you need total relaxation and a place to recharge your batteries this is definitely the place to go. Would I go back - You bet I would because at the end of 11 days I was definitely in the laid back brigade. Plus I need to enjoy some more of Chef Baka's menu.

Beautiful beaches, superb accommodation, excellent and friendly staff, great food and drink. I loved the fact that it was an adventure to get here as it really gets you into the holiday mood. Once here it is the perfect place to unwind. Personally I would have liked some organised activities like yoga, Pilates etc. to force me away from my sun lounger. Evening entertainment was low key and could be enhanced by better lighting on the performers. Day guests could become a problem, but it is a difficult situation given that all beaches are public. Watched several catamarans arrive during our visit, their occupants all happily jumping off and swimming ashore to then be turned away from the restaurant for not being appropriately dressed. I cannot end my review without mentioning the bugs and mosquitos. I am very susceptible, so took every precaution. Sprays, bracelets, fogging the room, and I was still eaten alive. I did find that for me Avon Skin so Soft was more effective than the spray provided. Bites aside this was an amazing holiday and I’m sure I’ll return.
