Castries St Lucia

The Bustling Cultural Hub Of St Lucia

Built around a picturesque natural harbour and backed by green hills, busy Castries is the island's cultural hub and a trip to the bustling city is well worth a visit.

Wander the public market  that is open every day except Sundays, and pick up luscious fruit and souvenirs to take home and treasure. See the vibrant locals in their hometown and stroll through Derek Walcott Square where you will find a picture-perfect 19th century cathedral basking in the shade of a 400-year-old samaan tree. Many of the city's buildings were destroyed by fires between 1785 and 1948 but there still survives some beautiful architecture and pretty buildings to enjoy

For a breathtaking panorama of the city and surrounding St Lucian beauty, pay a visit to Fort Charlotte, the hilltop stronghold used during France and Britain's many battles for St Lucia. The views are sure to take your breath away.
