Nice Visit

Lititz, Pennsylvania

My husband and I just returned from La Toc and stayed in the PP1- Sunset Bluff Penthouse Oceanview Room. Here is my overall review: Room: Room was awesome with really great views. It was renovated sometime recently and we had zero complaints. Maid/Cleaning: We absolutely loved the woman that took care of our room (SherryAnn I believe). She was always smiling and I could tell on the days she had off that someone else had taken care of the room in her place. She always replenished the soaps and lotions and left everything well taken care of. She was a pleasure. Beach: Beach was OK, however the vendors were extremely annoying. It was also pretty rough, so we only walked along the beach and chose not to swim due to being afraid of the rough surf. The water was beautiful. Pools: We spent two days at the larger/party pool and the rest of our time at the smaller pool near Armondos. The larger pool was not really a "party pool" and the playmakers seemed less involved at this resort than the last resort we went to. The two days we spent here it was very quiet and in the later afternoon they did play some music. I think they should have music playing all day. I did enjoy interacting with the bartender at the larger pool (John). He's been at this resort for about 25 years and really knows how to interact with the visitors. There was another bartender working with him that was horrible and I found myself not ordering drinks when he was there due to his lack of interest and poor bartending skills. The smaller pool was enjoyable, until the last day when there was one man smoking a cigar in the morning and a group that arrived on Friday that was extremely disruptive, jumping/diving taking rafts from other guests and smoking all day in their area. They all thought they were funny, but did not realize how ignorant they looked. Several guests left the pool area due to their rude and immature behavior. I was glad we were leaving the next day and did not have to experience this behavior further. The bartenders at the smaller pool were all pleasant, but were not overly creative if you wanted them to make you something new to drink. Overall, we really enjoyed the smaller pool area, with the exception of the last day. Restaurants: We really enjoyed our meals at this resort. My favorite was Armondo's. We ate breakfast at Armondo's every morning and had dinner there twice. One night the chef visited our table and even offered to bring my husband more mussels because he loved them so much. I was not overly impressed with the returning guest dinner and I was also extremely upset that lobster season is supposed to run through the end of February in St. Lucia and they did not have any available (2/9-2/16). I was not the only guest that felt this way. The chocolate cake dessert at the Piton's restaurant is addicting and I had that three nights. That is a must try! Grounds: This resort is absolutely beautiful. I have some really great pictures and the views are amazing. If you are someone who is not athletic and you do not have a butler, you may want to book somewhere else. There is a lot of walking and if you are staying closer to the larger pool you may have difficulty getting to some of the restaurants. There are shuttles to take you back and forth, but we had butler service and I do not feel it was very clear on where to pickup those shuttles. I'm very athletic and that would have been a big concern if we did not have a butler to drive us up and down the resort. Butler Service: We had such a great experience at the last Sandals resort we went to, our expectations were set pretty high. We were extremely disappointed with our butler service. There were things we just could not get over, such as ordering breakfast in one morning to have the food never show up. After mentioning my concerns to two different gentlemen who walked around asking if we had any issues, we ended up meeting with the Butler manager. We expressed our concerns and she did address them appropriately. However, it was Wednesday and we left Saturday morning. I just do not think the bar is set very high for butler service at this resort. I think the butlers at La Toc are more for driving you around the resort to get where you need to go- not the special little things you may have experienced at other resorts. Spa- We had a wonderful couples massage from Nadia and Chantel. We were going to skip massages, but received a $100 credit from our buddy Chervon in the loyalty office when we booked one of next trips. Others we met had the same great experience, so I would definitely recommend the spa at this resort. Overall, this was a great trip. The General Manager appeared to be very active and I saw him regularly the first half of our trip. I also used the Loop regularly (whether it be a concern or a compliment) when we were on site and always received prompt responses. We were frequently asked by staff if everything was ok. The service in the restaurants and bars was excellent. We did not find ourselves waiting around for our food or drinks. I had to rate this resort 4 stars instead of 5 only due to the price we paid for the butler service and the service we actually received.

Beautiful Destination, but Disappointment in Sandels La Toc

We were excited to celebrate our 15th Wedding Anniversary in St. Lucia with Sandels La Toc. We initally tried to book at The Grande, but the resort was full. After visiting the Grande for a day, I woudl have waited for a time to stay at the Grande versus La Toc. We choose the PItons Ocean View Room where the view was really beautiful. Our room was disaapointing. Upon arriving, our room had no towels for showering which became a recocurring theme. We had to ask the staff to bring towels multiple times during our stay. The toilet in our room was not bolted down, the sliding door to our balcony was broken, and the AC quit working the last night of our stay. There is no urgency to serve the customer as it is made known by the staff they are on "island time." The staff at the restaurants did a nice job and the food was well presented. The beach is very pretty, the grounds and landscaping were well maintained, and the pools were very clean. Overall, it wasn't a terrible expereince, but we have spent less money for much nicer resorts and service during the month of February. Overall, I am not sure if we will be revisiting a Sandels Resort in the future. We talked to a Sandels rep about the Loyalty Club. Once we told him our concerns and we were not comforable booking at the moment, he bascially wanted nothing to do with us.
