Honeymoon--Very Disappointed

We booked the Sandals Grande based according to other fellow honeymooners and their rave reviews. When we arrived I noticed other groups had been given glasses of champagne to welcome them to the resort. Our group that we checked in with did not receive this. Next, we booked and paid extra for the honeymoon walk-out suite-- it is no different from any other basic room and you receive nothing extra for it. Also, if you do not pay extra for club sandals you do not get room service. We had friends who booked club sandals and they informed us that they got room service but the menu was limited and ended at ten pm. As honeymooners, we expected to be treated as such. The resort did nothing extra/special to help us celebrate. We were told by many others that they would leave surprises in your room to help you celebrate your special occasion. We received NOTHING! We met several couples while there who were not there celebrating anything and had not informed the resort they were celebrating and they still received champagne and flowers in their room. It was very disappointing because you want to feel special and that did not happen AT ALL! I will inform those who are staying there to book the helicopter ride to and from the hotel because it can be a two-hour drive that makes you feel awful. (made that mistake coming to the resort from the airport) I do highly recommend booking the JJs boat tour through the resort because that excursion made our trip. The food is nothing to get excited over and highly suggest bringing snacks with you in case you get hungry. My husband and I both got sick from food two separate nights. There is zero wait staff at the pool like advertised so you do have to go get your own drinks and you are unable to order food from the pool. We had high expectations for the amount of money spent on this trip and we could have gone somewhere much nicer for half the price. If you have the money and want to check this place out I highly suggest hiring the butler, staying in a villa and going that route. You will have much more enjoyable experience.
