Great vacation at an Amazing resort!

Cary, North Carolina

I can't say enough positive things about Bay Gardens Beach Resort, nor about the locals on the island. Let me start with the people of St. Lucia. I've traveled to many Caribbean islands over the past 15 years. The people on St Lucia are by far the friendliest people I’ve ever encountered, whether at the Bay Gardens Beach Resort, the restaurants I ate at, taxi driver or any other person I encountered. They made my trip so much better than it would otherwise have been just by being themselves. The Bay Gardens Beach Resort is a very good, very clean and very comfortable resort. It has all the amenities you would expect to see at a high-end Caribbean resort. Multiple restaurants on property, gym, and an amazing tree lined beach with plenty of seating and umbrellas. We most often ate at the Hi Tide restaurant. It’s beachfront, with plenty of seating. The restaurant was never crowded and like everywhere outdoors on the resort, enjoyed a nice cooling ocean breeze. We ate breakfast here every day, enjoying the moderate sized, but perfect buffet spread, including the option for made-to-order eggs. The lunch is good as well although, as you might expect, somewhat limited choices… but tasty nonetheless. We had dinner here a couple of times as well and that was also good. A nice bonus of eating here is that a couple of times the week we were there the resort had live entertainment in and the stage was close to the restaurant seating. Very nice musical shows. We also ate at the Sea Grapes restaurant for lunch and dinner a couple of times. It is slightly more upscale than Hi Tide and a nice change up. Like the Hi Tide, the food was very good, as was the service. Speaking of food! There are quite a few very good restaurants in walking distance of the resort, two of which we visited while staying at the resort; Buzz Seafood and Grill, and Jacques Waterfront Dining. Both are excellent, and I highly recommend the lobster at Buzz. Another bonus is that there is a mall within walking distance too. About a mile from the resort. Quick mention of the gym: not super large, but big enough for the size of the resort, with treadmills, bikes, etc., along with free weights. Worked out twice there and enjoyed it. Our room was excellent. I exchanged into the resort via Interval International which would have gotten us a pool or courtyard view one bedroom. I’m sure either would have been very nice, but I upgraded to the beachfront one bedroom, and we LOVED it! The rooms are all quite comfortable, with kitchen facilities, a separate living room, and a bedroom with gorgeous bath. Our favorite feature was the large patio where we spent every evening watching the sunset over the ocean. It was worth the extra money to get that view. I highly recommend going with the all-inclusive option with this resort. Unlike every other resort I’ve stayed at with an all-inclusive this one allows you to eat out at some of the local restaurants three times. You get a voucher to offset the cost of a significant amount of your tab at those restaurants which allows you to experience a variety of locations and foods with the all-inclusive. Another nice perk of the all-inclusive, obviously, is the all you can drink at the resort. Our favorite beverage?? Rum punch! But not just any rum punch; this was easily the best rum punch I’ve ever had at any Caribbean resort. It had a fair amount of alcohol in it so you knew you were drinking an alcoholic beverage, but not so much that it was burning or overwhelming. Whatever their recipe is it is amazing…!

Most Friendly accommodating resort

Cancun, Mexico

This was our first trip to St Lucia and with Bay Gardens through Global Discovery vacations. This by far was my favorite. The staff were absolutely great, always willing to ensure we had what we needed. If we didn't like was on the buffet, they were willing to make a separate dish for us. We had a suite with full Amenities, including Kitchen, living room, King bed (per request) and huge bathroom with spa like tub. We ate half the week in our until and the other half at the restaurants on site. I did find their breakfast buffet very pricey, but food was good. Great shuttle service to shops, restaurants and grocery stores. However, not necessary if you don't mind walking.
