Delicious Food in St Kitts & Nevis

Delicious Caribbean delights

Like most of the Caribbean islands, St Kitts is known for its tasty, flavoursome food and has a multitude of options available for both casual and more refined dining to suit all tastes and pockets.

A local favourite is the lively Mr. X's Shiggidy Shack Beach Bar, located directly on the beach on the famous ‘Strip’ in Frigate Bay with great food and ambiance. Be sure to sample their freshly caught seafood and local dishes with tropical fruits. Fire eaters and live bands perform here each week.

We also love the Reggae Beach Bar and Grill on the south east peninsula which is often touted as one of the top 45 beach bars in the world. Enjoy stunning oceanfront views and daily delights of barbecued food and fresh seafood with coconut shrimp, honey mustard ribs, grilled lobster and a large range of delicious frozen tropical drinks being among the specialties served here.

For reasonably priced food, we recommend Ballahoo Restaurant, set directly in Basseterre’s Circus. This local hotspot has a quirky yet relaxed atmosphere and features fresh Caribbean dishes as well as Indian, American, Chinese and French influences. Try the traditional conch or the rotis while you enjoy the karaoke nights, Latin dancing, and live bands that help make Ballahoo such a popular choice.

If you’re looking for something a little bit special, perhaps for a romantic evening or to celebrate something special, then treat yourself to dinner at Marshall’s for elegance and new world dining. Or, if you’re a fan of something a bit spicier, than Bombay Blues specialises in Indian and Chinese fine cuisine. Located above the Sugar Bay Club you can expect an authentic dining experience and sweeping views of Frigate Bay and the golf course.

For something even more different, try a ‘Farm to Table’ experience at The Kitchen at Belle Mont Farm. Drink in the views of rainforest-covered mountains and sample the farm-to-table fare. Guests flock here to enjoy the kitchen table vibe and delicious culinary delights which are fished, farmed and foraged from the ocean and land around Belle Mont Farm.

One of St Kitts’ newest offerings on the culinary trail is Carambola Beach Club, located on South Friar’s Bay beach, providing a mix of European and Caribbean cuisine including tapas as well as a sushi and oyster bar. One of the biggest draws here though is the 4,000 bottle wine cellar with vintages from nearly every wine-growing region in the world. Carambola is a great place for couples and families alike as it offers resort like facilities and there are even beach beds and a massage area if you fancy some relaxation and pampering after your dining experience.
