Beautiful Resort

Connecticut

My husband and I stayed here for 6 nights in March. We were very happy we chose to stay at Nisbet. The property is beautiful. The resort is on the Atlantic side so there is always a strong breeze, we only used our air conditioner one night. Snorkeling is best if you walk to the right of the beach, past the wooden pole, waters a bit calmer there. Be careful though, the constant breeze makes it hard to recognize when you are starting to get a sunburn. The manager's hike was a lot of fun, great views. The food was great. The snorkeling trip from the Four Season's was a lot of fun. Diving with Ellis out of Qualie Beach was fantastic. My massage was excellent. Dinner at Bananas can't be missed. Arrive there by 5:30/6 p.m. and head up to the top deck for pre dinner drinks and a fantastic view of the sunset. Tips for anyone who is gluten free, the dinner menu is clearly marked with what is gluten free. That said, a pre appetizer bite is served and those are not all gluten free. I ordered a dessert that was marked gluten free but the dessert came with a wafer spoon stuck in the dessert that was not gluten free so I had to ask for another dessert to come out without the wafer. It wasn't until night 3 when I was offered the option of having gluten free bread. Same for breakfast. Breakfast and lunch are served down by the beach and use the same kitchen. Once I found out there was GF raisin bread for breakfast, I had ordered a club sandwich on GF bread for lunch. I was served the club sandwich on Raisin bread! I guess I should have asked the server to bring me regular bread from up at the great house. I tried two days in a row to find out if GF pancakes were available, both mornings the server told me she didn't know, she'd check for the next morning but I never got an answer. I was offered a GF wrap for the Lobster wraps on day two. Their menus have no mention of the option of gluten free bread or wraps so it seems it is up to you to make this request. One minor complaint, I got sick with flu like symptoms while I was there and went to the gift shop to get some medicine. The gift shop sells an assortment of over the counter medications but most were out of stock. I asked if they had anymore in their store closet, they did not and I asked if someone could go to the store the next day to refill their medications and was told that was not possible. I cleared them out of what Tylenol and DayQuil they had and left a bit unimpressed that I was flat out denied when asked if they could simply refill their medication supply the following day. Lastly, we had arrived on a Saturday and the entire process of getting through customs to Nisbet was horrible. During the week we learned from lots of people that arriving on a Saturday or Wednesday is very chaotic and this is absolutely true. Try to avoid arriving on Saturdays at all costs. We left on a Friday and the experience was 1000 times better than our arrival. I would not recommend this resort for families with young children. The beach is a bit rough for little ones and the pool is not heated.

Romantic Getaway

Durham, Connecticut

My husband and I were looking for a quiet place to get away from the cold New England winter, and found our dreams come true at Nisbet Plantation. The weather was sunny and warm, the Caribbean blue water refreshing, the staff delightful, the food gourmet, the atmosphere private and relaxing. We couldn’t have been happier with our stay!
