Welcome to your unique Caribbean country escape in natural Nevis. Montpelier Plantation & Beach offers a glimpse into a simpler way of life. Masterfully designed to be chic, yet laid-back and dating back to 1747, the sugar plantation is a wonderful balance of old and new world, with breath-taking views of beautiful island of Nevis and the gorgeous Caribbean Sea.

The rooms are elegant, bright and airy with cool colours, high beam ceilings and natural wood floors. Large windows allow fresh sea air to flow freely through the rooms and out to the private terraces with spectacular sea views, the ideal spot for relaxing on. The hotel offers three dining options and the unique opportunity to do rum tasting in the old sugar mill.

Perfect Retreat

Reading, England

My wife and I spent our honeymoon at the Montpelier Plantation Inn Nevis. It was the perfect retreat. Large well kept grounds with distant views of the Caribbean Sea and the local wildlife. The accommodation consists primarily of semi detached bungalows that have been thoughtfully designed to offer maximum privacy. We had a "premier room". In my opinion the bathroom sink and mixer taps are due for an upgrade but other than this the room was perfect. The food on offer was outstanding, particularly the large breakfast, and the housekeeping, cleanliness and general guest services were all of an excellent standard. Complimentary afternoon tea was much appreciated and perfectly suited to the ambiance / ethos of the hotel. The Botanical Gardens are a five minute walk from the Inn as is the colourful Passion Bar & Grill in the opposing direction. The vibrant St John's Pentecostal Church is about 20 mins walk away on Beach Rd (where you can pick up the local bus service) with Saddle Hill, with it's amazing views, being a rather more challenging walk, c. 1.5 hours each way. The hotel offers a daily free shuttle bus service to their idyllic private beach which is situated about six miles away. There is a resident bartender onsite but food is not available. However, there are plentiful options within a few minutes stroll. In summary I would happily return to the Montpelier Inn and highly recommended it.

Near perfection

United States

We recently spent a week here in a plantation room. Staff was always helpful and friendly. They quickly learn your room number and name. Anything you need they can take care of; need a guide for a hike? No problem we can arrange it for you. Dinner reservations and a taxi? No problem. The food is way above average. Dining in the 750 and the beach barbecue will rank up there as some of our fav dining experiences ever! Yes, the food is expensive, but it is everywhere on Nevis. Sitting on our little patio with a coffee in the morning and watching the monkeys was also a highlight. The property overall is quaint and historical. The rooms need some updating though. The air conditioner worked great. The bed was very comfortable. Their beach is little disappointing and didn’t spend much time there. Overall we had a throughly enjoyable week! What I’ll miss: No TV. I didn’t realize the rooms didn’t have it and we loved it! The house made yogurt at breakfast. The rum punch. The gazpacho at lunch. Monkeys. Tips: Bring lots of small bills for tipping on the island. It’s not very convenient to find an ATM. Bring snacks if you like something like that. Bring a wireless speaker if you want to listen to music in your room as there isn’t a radio or TV.
