Nuwara Eliya Holidays

Take a train journey from Kandy and admire the stunning scenery of the rolling hills and tea plantations as you trundle upwards towards Nuwara Eliya. Enjoy a couple of days of relaxation after the hustle and bustle of Kandy, and explore one of Sri Lanka’s national parks.

Located 2,000 metres above sea level in the highlands of Sri Lanka, Little England was once a favoured retreat for the British due to its cool climate. Today, it still resembles a British village, with a post office, golf course, and Tudor-style hotels.

Take a guided tour at a tea plantation to learn where your morning cup of tea originates from, and then enjoy a gorgeous views of the plantations and beyond. Take a walk to Lover’s Leap to discover its impressive waterfall, spend an afternoon with a picnic in Victoria Park, or pedal downstream Lake Gregory on a Swan shaped pedal boat.

A visit to Nuwara Eliya wouldn’t be complete without a visit to one of its colonial hotels, such as the Grand Hotel, where you can enjoy a cup of Ceylon tea in its beautiful manicured gardens, or gaze out over misty plantations.

The highlight of my honeymoon was the train journey to Nuwara Eliya – the rolling hills and tea plantations with the cool fresh breeze coming through the opened windows.
