Kalutara Holidays

The heart of the west coast

Sri Lanka’s scenic southwest coast is dotted with luxurious resorts where you can unwind on sandy palm-fringed beaches. Spend your days partaking in thrilling watersports, diving in azure waters, and indulging in delicious cuisine.

Kalutara is the third biggest city in the west. Alongside beaches and bustling markets, you’ll find the 38-metre long Kalutara Bridge and some of the world’s most beautiful Buddhist temples, including the Kalutara Vihara and the Asokaramaya temple.

Kalutara was formerly an important spice trading centre, controlled at various times by the Portuguese, Dutch, and British. Nowadays, it’s more famous as the source of the island’s finest mangosteens and beaches.
