Your South African adventure begins as you leave bustling Cape Town and travel through the mountains along Route 62, the longest wine route in the world, which offers the most scenic drive through the Western Cape.

You’ll stop for lunch in the pretty town of Barrydale, which is surrounded by beautiful mountains, before continuing to the first stop of your tour, Oudtshoorn. Known as the ‘ostrich capital of the world’, this town is home to lots of these impressive and somewhat amusing birds, including Kenyan (Massai), Zimbabwean Blue and native South African ostriches. A visit to the town’s working ostrich farm allows you to get closer to these magnificent birds and gain some facts to your ostrich trivia.

After a busy first day you’ll head back to your luxury accommodation where you can relax and spend the night at leisure.

Today your tour begins with a morning excursion to the majestic Cango Caves. Located deep underground, these cavernous hollows are a natural wonder that must be seen to be believed. Dramatic rock formations - including stalactites and stalagmites - jut out from every angle. The cave walls are covered in intricate rivets forged over thousands of years.

Once you’ve completed your tour of the caves, it’s onward to Knysna, a lagoon side town that’s  a must-see stop during your tour of the Garden Route and is world-renowned for its oysters and even holds an annual festival in their honour. After this pit stop, your journey continues to Plettenberg Bay. Here, you’ll set sail on a picturesque cruise up the meandering Keurbooms River before being transported to your luxury accommodation, which will be home for the next two nights. Once there, you can wind down from the day and enjoy a leisurely dinner or a  glass of wine by the warming fire.

Wake up in Plettenberg Bay for a morning spent with feathered friends and some hilarious monkey moments. You’ll be able to see more than 200 species of incredible birds at the world’s largest free flight aviary, Birds of Eden. Home to over 3,000 colourful and exotic species, including cranes, flamingos, parakeets, tropical birds, parrots and bearded sakis, this award-winning sanctuary includes two hectares of indigenous forest beneath its impressive canopy. You’ll also catch a glimpse of gibbons, squirrel monkeys and ring-tailed lemurs hiding in the trees from neighbouring Monkeyland.

Your afternoon is yours to enjoy as you please. Stroll around the beautiful bay, or, if you have the energy for more outdoor adventure, join an optional Marine Encounter boat trip to see some of the bay’s diverse marine life up close. As night draws in, return to your lodge for dinner and to enjoy your last evening in Plettenberg Bay.

This is the final day of your South Africa adventure - and we want to ensure it ends on a high, as you take in the spectacular Tsitsikamma National Park. After getting up bright and early you’ll be taken to Tsitsikamma, which is a word derived from the Khoi-Khoi language meaning ‘a place of many, abundant waters.’ At this vast nature reserve, you can see all kinds of animals and marine life in their natural habitat, as well as exploring the terrain beneath a canopy of trees on one of the many trails and hikes. Once your sightseeing is over, enjoy an al fresco lunch overlooking the breath-taking mountains and sparkling rivers of this special place. After a day spent immersed in nature, you’ll be transported to Port Elizabeth where, sadly, your wonderful South African tour concludes.
