Highlights of the Garden Route

One of the most magnificent and awe-inspiring stretches of landscape in South Africa, the Highlights of the Garden Route tour offers majestic mountains, breathtaking beaches, valleys and lakes.

Our compact tour departs from Cape Town and will take you along the Western Cape, giving you the chance to explore this stunning area including the Cango Caves, Knysna Elephant Sanctuary and Tsitsikamma National Park

You'll stop off at Oudtshoorn – known for its ostrich farms – before taking the Outeniqua Mountain Pass through the towns of George and Wilderness to Knysna. The tour continues on to the appealing coastal idyll of Plettenberg Bay before finishing in Port Elizabeth.

Depart from Cape Town on Route 62 – the tourist route of the Western Cape – to Oudtshoorn, the ostrich capital of the world. En route you'll stop to enjoy lunch in Barrydale (not included) before continuing on to enjoy a tour of a local Oudtshoorn ostrich farm.

Later you'll arrive at your accommodation for your overnight stay.

Today you'll take a morning tour of the Cango Caves before departing over the scenic Outeniqua Mountain Pass through the towns of George and Wilderness to Knysna, one of the best known resorts on the Garden Route. From there, you'll continue on to Plettenberg Bay, arriving at your lodge accommodation in time for dinner.

Today you will visit Birds of Eden, the world's largest free flight bird aviary in the world. The unique two hectare dome spans a gorge of indigenous forest and is home to more than 3,500 birds from over 220 species.

Enjoy the afternoon at leisure or, time permitting, choose to go on a marine encounter boat trip (an extra charge applies) before returning to the lodge in time for dinner.

After breakfast, you'll depart for Tsitsikamma National Park, with its temperate high forest, where the booming breakers of the Indian Ocean relentlessly pound rocky shores.

In the afternoon, head to Port Elizabeth where your tour will finish.
