You'll start your tour in Cape Town, an eclectic melting pot of culture, awarded the accolade of 'best city in the world' many times – and for good reason. As stylish as it is vibrant, experience lush botanical gardens, Cape Dutch architecture, exceptional cuisine and many historical attractions. You can't visit Cape Town without taking a cable car to the summit of Table Mountain to enjoy far-reaching views over the city, Cape Peninsula and Atlantic Ocean.

Next up on your tour is Stellenbosch in the verdant Western Cape, one of the most popular and visited areas of South Africa. Here you'll uncover the region's rich heritage while enjoying delicious wines and stunning rural scenery, all just a stone's throw from Cape Town.

You'll end your holiday with the opportunity to spot Southern right whales in Hermanus, the pretty fisherman's village on the southern coast of the Western Cape (from June to December).

Itinerary Breakdown

Cape Town is known as the Mother City of South Africa and is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful regions in the world. Upon arrival in Cape Town, transfer to your hotel for two nights.

Take the cable car to the top of Table Mountain (cable car fee payable locally) for stunning city and ocean views.

Afterwards, continue to explore Cape Town on a half day city tour, taking in the Bo-Kaap district, the South African Museum and the Castle of Good Hope.

Today you will depart for Cape Point. Travel along the Atlantic Seaboard passing through Clifton, Camps Bay, Llandudno and Hout Bay before reaching the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, which has a wide variety of plant, bird and animal life.

In the afternoon head to Simon's Town and stop at Boulders Beach, famous for its African penguin colony. Afterwards, opt for a visit to Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.

After a leisurely breakfast, depart for the Cape Winelands. On the drive you'll witness superb mountain ranges, vineyards and Cape Dutch homesteads before enjoying cellar tours and wine from renowned estates in Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl.

Later you'll arrive at your hotel in Stellenbosch for two nights.

Enjoy a leisurely day in the Winelands. Renowned for its Cape Dutch buildings, university and wines, Stellenbosch lies in the fertile Jonkershoek river valley, surrounded by vineyards, orchards and mountains. Walk around and savour the atmosphere of this unique town with its oak-lined streets and traditional water furrow irrigation systems. Open-air restaurants and cosy coffee shops line the shady streets and secluded lanes, inviting you to linger and observe the everyday activities of this bustling town.

Depart for Hermanus, on the Cape Whale Coast, and enjoy the beautiful scenery on the way. Hermanus is known for some of the best whale watching in the world, as every year Southern right whales migrate from the sub-Antarctic to calve in the sheltered sea of Walker Bay.

Later, travel to your hotel for two nights.

Today you'll have the opportunity to spot the whales on a half day whale watching cruise. (Please note that whale cruises only take place between June and December, outside of these months an eco-cruise will be offered). Southern right whales come to these calm bays every year to calve and nurse their young or to mate.

Later on you'll visit Dyer Island, where the African penguin, as well as various other seabirds, can be seen and visit Geyser Rock which is home to about 60,000 Cape fur seals.

After refreshment in Kleinbaai Harbour, why not visit the quaint town of Stanford – full of artwork, antiques and collectables – before returning to Hermanus?

After breakfast, depart Hermanus and head back to Cape Town airport or your chosen Cape Town hotel.
