Your trip will begin with a one night stay in Johannesburg. Here you’ll discover South Africa’s intriguing heritage and history as you tour the city. 

Head to the Apartheid Museum and Mandela House Museum to learn all about the country’s world famous 20th century history. The harrowing stories of apartheid will give you an interesting glimpse into South Africa’s storied past. 

Take a bike ride around the township of Soweto which was once home to icons including Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu. Then, head to the Lesedi Cultural Village to immerse yourself in the ethnic centre of South Africa. Here you’ll often discover demonstrations of dances and other vibrant cultural activities. 

A trip to Johannesburg wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the Melrose Arch Precinct. Here you can shop for gifts and souvenirs for loved ones in the many bustling stores, or you can dine in one of the excellent cafés and restaurants.

Spend the rest of your holiday at the Madikwe Hills Private Game Lodge. Here you’ll spend your last three nights in the heart of South Africa. 

Embark on game drives in malaria free zones in search of the famous Big Five animals. These include elephants, lions, both black and white rhinoceros, leopard and Cape buffalo. As you drive across the vast South African terrains, you can admire the sublime natural beauty of the area and spot these majestic creatures. Other animals include zebra, giraffe and hyena. 

During the afternoon, roam the terrain by foot on a walking safari to observe the surrounding landscapes, fauna and flora from a different perspective. 

Kids will love getting involved with the Madikwe Hills Junior Rangers programmes. They’ll enjoy the many activities on offer. They can dress up like leopards and tigers, enjoy movie nights and treasure hunts and take the animal dung investigation course.
