Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve

Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve

Situated in the world-renowned 65,000 hectare Sabi Sand Reserve, in the Southwestern section of the Kruger National Park, sits Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve. Popular since 1979, many international visitors have been drawn to this unique area by the promise of the "safari experience of a lifetime". Follow the animals on and off-road in open safari vehicles, deep into the wild African bushveld, led by highly trained Game Rangers and accompanied by qualified Trackers, on day and night safaris.

Sabi Sabi proudly offers four unqiue award-winning luxuious, all-suite lodges which are positioned around the concept of "Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow". These three words represent the decor, character and atmospheres at each of the lodges. Selati Camp offers a romantic atmosphere and is associated with the "Yesterday" experience, whilst "Today" provides more of a contemporary approach. "Tomorrow" plays host to the flagship lodge, Earth Lodge, a boutique eco-lodge and 'National Geographic Unique Lodges of the World'. Recently refurbished in 2019, Earth Lodge is sculpted into a slope of the earth, almost invisible in the landscape which has been described as the most environmentally sensitive lodge in Africa.

Facilities

Amani Spa at Bush Lodge

The perfect place to rest and relax, this haven of tranquillity offers the ultimate African Spa experience.

Amani Spa at Earth Lodge

Escape to the Amani Spa at Earth Lodge and enjoy a luxurious facility that reflects the soul of Africa.

Birding at Sabi Sabi

Home to almost 350 bird species including rare specimens such as the Narina Trogon, Bat Hawk and Diedrick’s Cuckoo as well as the so-called ‘Big 6’ of Martial Eagle, Lappet-faced Vulture, Pel’s Fishing Owl, Saddle-billed Stork, Southern Ground Hornbill and Kori Bustard. It is said that almost 5% of the world’s bird species have been recorded in this region of South Africa. Be sure to inform your ranger about your interest in birds and make use of the binoculars.

Stargazing at Sabi Sabi

Observe the beauty of the night sky and have the chance to admire the unobstructed splendour of the Milky Way. Most winter nights are cloudless and thousands of stars are visible to the naked eye. Sabi Sabi's trained rangers provide enlightening stories about the southern hemisphere constellations. These experiences can be tailored to your interests, whether you wish to observe whilst on evening safari, or choose to have a senior ranger set up a telescope and together with the use of sky maps and a laser pointer take you on a dedicated sky safari. We would recommend choosing a period of the lunar month where the moon is as close to new moon as possible.

Photographic Safaris

The Sabi Sabi Photographic Safari offers guests the unique experience of being guided, by a professional photographer (Photographic Host), through the intricacies of getting the very best out of a camera and of how to take that perfect, once in a lifetime, wildlife picture. These Photographic Safaris are based on a 2 day course, on an exclusive photographic vehicle, and are available on request which must be pre-booked.
