Very nice and fancy hotel, but with some annoying issues

Chicago, Illinois

I stayed at this luxury establishment for 2 weeks in December. The hotel is linked to its “brother “ DaVinci” hotel thru a hallway witch crosses a mall. As mentioned, both hotels merge into a very luxurious mall, with super fancy and amazing goods(and the prices are high, accordingly.) The check in in the sumptuous lobby was smooth and the Front Desk clerks were very nice. They have also introduced the very friendly concierge Archie. Both him and his colleague Joseph were very nice, always smiling and nosy importantly, very helpful and professional. The room I had was very nice, but as soon as I wanted to take an afternoon nap, I’ve realized the sheets had holes in it. I’ve asked Housekeeping to change it, and they came promptly, with clean ironed sheets, BUT with a huge whole in it, in the shape of an iron. Finally, the 3rd sheet was ok. Not as expected from a 5 stars hotel! The blanket covers also had little holes, and the same happened in my fellow colleagues’ room, as it turned out during our stay. But nevertheless, the service was great. They change sometimes twice a day the sheets and towels, and there is a night turndown like in the fancy hotels in Asia, when they leave a chocolate on the pillow and slippers on a towel by the bed. Tip: ask for a room facing the Mandela Square, which is very nice during the day and very colorful lit at night. It might get a little noisy in the afternoon if there are events going on, but it’s worth it. The breakfast was rich and very nice, but if you order an omelette, you need to be patient. If you don’t have time, use the extensive buffet and scrambled eggs. The service in the breakfast room is very good. The hotel has a lot of dining options around it and in the mall, from amazing steaks to a Hard Rock Cafe in the below Mandela Square. The shuttle service to the airport was also efficient. Overall, a great stay and a great experience, with some small deficiencies that need to be rectified. But due to the great staff and service, as well as for the around amenities, this hotel is highly recommended for anyone visiting Jo’burg and wants to feel pampered. Next time I’m in Jo’burg, I will stay at this hotel again.

Best weekend getaway👌🏻👌🏻

Johannesburg, South Africa

This is definitely a 5* star hotel. Everything from location to service was outstanding. First off the service and help received from the manager at reservation, Khartoum, was just perfect. She was very understanding and accommodating. It was my sons birthday, the hotel took extra care to make the room super special for him. The service throughout the hotel was better than most 5* hotels I stayed at throughout the world. Uncle Archie at the front desk won my kids over. The kids loves him. Another bonus was the heated indoor pool. A real blessing during the cold winter days. Breakfast was delicious and top class. Best Best Best Hotel !!!!Always our No1 choice
