The Marine

Perched on top of the cliffs at Hermanus, The Marine has one of the southern hemisphere’s most spectacular seascapes. The hotel has commanding views that extend across Walker Bay, as well as the beautiful internal courtyard, finely manicured gardens and the Overberg Mountains. The Marine offers guests the unique opportunity to experience the finest land-based whale watching in the world. From June to September guests are able to view these majestic creatures from the comfort of their beautiful sea view room.

The Marine boasts 40 individually decorated bedrooms and suites. The attention to detail is apparent in every aspect of this remarkable property - from the personal service to the exceptional cuisine and the perfect-for-sundowners Sun Lounge and the in-house Carchele Beauty Spa. Each piece of The Marine story adds another element to an unforgettable stay.

The Marine has been a part of Hermanus’ history almost from the very beginning. The hotel was first built in 1902, with a modest 21 rooms. In its fledging years, Hermanus was a fishing village, and this heritage is still very much in evidence. Spend a day uncovering the history of this beautiful coastal town. Museums are all within easy walking distance of The Marine, so you can explore the town on foot at the same time.

Well Managed

This hotel is very clean, comfortable, well positioned and the friendly staff are always visible and helpful. They even washed my car before we checked out. Management do care here about their customers and your experience with them. Nice touch is the complimentary minibar. We will be definitely be back soon! The only negative, is the shop bought bread served at their breakfast. No hotel or restaurant should ever use bread from the commercial suppliers.

Relaxation by the sea..

Strathaven, United Kingdom

Stunning location & well positioned within Hermanus, this traditional hotel provides the ideal place to stay for a few days R&R away from the hustle & bustle of Cape Town. Room with sea view & balcony a must. Great service in the bar - well worth a visit! Will definitely return.
