Kariega River Lodge

Unique game reserve linked to the coast

Set in a prime position – on the banks of the Bushmans River, amid the pristine wilderness of the Kariega River Valley – this luxury private game reserve is a sanctuary to more than 25 species of game including the Big Five – lion, elephant, rhino, Cape buffalo, leopard – hippo, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, a variety of antelope and more than 250 bird species.

At this award-winning conservation reserve you can enjoy game drives with experienced rangers, river cruises, guided bush walks, canoeing, fishing, mountain biking and swimming in beautiful river pools. In addition, in celebration of its unique riverbank position, the lodge offers a daily boat cruise along the river to the charming village of Kenton-on-Sea and the golden coast.

Life time experience

Binningen, Switzerland

We fell in love with the big five and our ranger “Trust”. Without him this phenomenal and brilliant experience wouldn’t have been the same! He made it happen for us to see even the Black Rhino which hasn’t been spotted since several weeks!! During the evening drive, Trust stopped at the top of a hill with a spectacular sun downer and some drinks, which made us feel very welcome. The Amarula-Banana-Chocolate Drink served at the lodge after returning from the evening drive was exquisite. We were spoilt excessively with delicious home made breakfast, lunches and a very tasty “Braii”. Thanks a lot to all the staff from the River Lodge!

Best Holiday Ever!!

Cheltenham, United Kingdom

This place is in a superb location, with staff that go the extra mile & fantastic food. ‘Talent’ our tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly, and made the whole safari experience one to remember. Vegetarian food options are plentiful & South African wine free flowing & good quality. Accommodation was of a high quality with plenty of space & comfort. Overall, can’t speak highly enough about the experience of a lifetime we enjoyed.
