Fantastic! From start to finish.

Maynooth, Ireland

We were a honeymoon couple and the river lodge and game reserve amazing, from start to finish we loved it. We were treated like royalty by staff and given a complementary full body massage each as honeymoon couple. We came back one night to our room and candles were lite every where and bath was filled with bubble and hot water and champagne which was lovely. On arrival at game reserve the service was exceptional arrival drinks of choice. Food here is amazing here, the day starts at 5.45 coffee and muffins/juice drinks. Go on game drive at 6am to 9pm. Our ranger was Willamee (sorry I know I’m spelling it wrong) who was friendly, very informative, fun and a fantastic driver. Breakfast at 9 which upon return and the anything you want to eat from juices, pastries, a array of fruit, hot breakfast of your choice. You can do an activity before the next game drive at four in between. You can go on a guided bush walk, spa, beech or sun yourself in pool lounge area. Another game drive from 4pm to 7.30pm. Dinner served at 8pm which is either bbq outside which was amazing or full three course meal. Waiting staff and management are the best I’ve ever met. The animals on this reserve are brilliant we saw 4 out of the big five! Amazing time thanks again and we will be back xx

Ammmmaaaazzzziiinnnggg!!

Southampton, United Kingdom

Originally we tried to book the main lodge at Kariega, however it was fully booked so we were recommended the River Lodge, upon arrival we quickly realised we had fallen on our feet with River Lodge. The River Lodge only has 10 rooms so has a far more luxurious boutique feel and you receive a far more personal service. Upon arrival we were greeted with cold towels and refreshing drinks and quickly shown to our lodge. We arrived at 3pm after a 24 hour journey and being awake for about 30 hours and were amazed to be told don’t worry you just in time for your first safari, so we quickly changed and were whisked away which felt surreal but it was the perfect way to start and certainly kept us awake!!! We had lodge 6 which we absolutely loved, it was huge and lovely and clean with all the amenities you need. Lodge 6 looks over the reserve which initially I thought oh I expected a river view, however on our 2nd morning when we woke we opened the curtains to see giraffes roaming the reserve, for me this was so special as I absolutely adore giraffes. We stayed 3 nights and did 6 games drives with Keryn aka Kiwi who was fantastic, so knowledgable and so passionate about her job. She really made our trip, Thankyou Kiwi. The River Lodge is all inclusive and the food was excellent, we tried Springbok and Eland which were cooked to perfection. There was a great selection for breakfast and had fun when the monkeys tried to join us!! On our first night we ate outside around the campfire. Nothing was too much trouble and all of the staff couldn’t do enough for us. We loved the fact that the jeeps were not packed, we were lucky to be paired with a lovely couple and share our safari drives with them and for most of our drives there was just the four of us. Kiwi worked hard to ensure we saw everything we wanted to. At the end of every evening drive we enjoyed a sundowner...a glass of wine or a G&T with some nibbles watching the sunset and listening to all the animals. During the day we took out the canoes on the river and also took the trip to Kenton on sea on the speedboat. River Lodge exceeded every expectation we had and then some. Thankyou River Lodge and your fabulous staff for a truly unforgettable experience...we will return.
