Welcome to Mont Rochelle, situated in a 100-acre private vineyard amid the rolling hills of Franschhoek – one of the key hubs of the Cape Winelands and the food capital of the beautiful Western Cape of South Africa.
Mont Rochelle is one of the prestigious hotels in Richard Branson's global collection and provides its guests with a luxurious and peaceful retreat just an hour from the engaging and dynamic city of Cape Town.
With just 26 fabulous rooms, you'll also enjoy a gourmet restaurant that showcases the best ingredients that South Africa has to offer. Sample the fine local vintages produced on site, either on a designated tour or enjoy a glass (maybe a bottle?) from the bar.
A stay at Mont Rochelle is not just about wine – besides the heated swimming pool and relaxing spa with hammam, there's plenty of activities to enjoy, from walking or cycling through the surrounding mountains, playing tennis or enjoying a round of golf as there are several courses within a 90-minute drive of the hotel.
Mont Rochelle has what many consider to be the best accommodation in the area – we highly recommend staying for at least two nights to really make the most of the facilities and area.

"My dinner at Miko was by far the best meal that I have enjoyed in South Africa, the red wine that accompanied it wasn't too bad either."
While staying at Mont Rochelle be sure to try some of the following activities.
Mont Rochelle offers a spa, hammam sauna and gym. Treatments incorporate the eco-friendly Africology ‘Authentic’ range of products which are made from 100% essential oils and natural plant extracts.
This area of the country offers some fantastic biking and hiking/walking routes (bikes hired locally). The hotel has an AstroTurf tennis court and there are several golf courses in the surrounding area (the hotel can arrange tee off times).
The best way to enjoy the area is to ride on the wine tram. This is a hop-on, hop-off service that offers several routes around the local vineyards, with Mont Rochelle being one of the stops so it is an easy and convenient way of seeing the area and sampling the local wines without breaking drink-driving rules.
Activities for kids include: - An alternative to wine tasting, with delicious grape juices - An array of lawn games to play - A treasure hunt ending with a children’s picnic It should be noted there is not a specific kids' club programme, creche or full-time childminder, though babysitting can be arranged.
