Singapore, the bustling metropolis, is home to a collection of intriguing and fascinating museums waiting to be explored during your trip. Perhaps the most popular is the National Museum of Singapore that resides in a grand old Palladian mansion. It's Singapore's oldest museum yet is also the most cutting-edge with a fantastic interactive exhibition on the nation's history as well as many galleries focusing on the nation's distinctive food, fashion and photography.

Another great visit is the Asian Civilisations Museum that looks at pan-Asian culture with more than 1,300 artefacts on display, and the striking Singapore Art Museum that houses paintings, sculptures and installations from across Southeast Asia.

If you're on the hunt for a bargain or two while visiting Singapore, the tourist board organise the Great Singapore Sale attracts keen shoppers to the city every year between May and July, with extended opening hours and serious discounts to be had. Orchard Road is also a must-visit for some retail therapy, bursting with modern malls and department stores. We also recommend heading to Sim Lim Square for great discounted electronic goods.
