Desert experience

From dune bashing and sand skiing to a night in an authentic Bedouin camp, a desert experience is not to be missed during your holiday to Qatar. A once-in-a-lifetime experience, an overnight desert safari will introduce you to Arabia’s wilderness, and also give you a thrill with sand boarding, quad biking and camel rides before a night under the stars in your own Bedouin tent. What could be better?

Dinner cruise
For a completely different perspective of the glittering city skyline, take a traditional dhow boat from the Al Corniche, Doha’s waterfront promenade, for a dinner cruise with a difference. As your chef prepares your traditional BBQ lunch or dinner, enjoy a swim in the calm waters before climbing back on board for a tasty meal an amazing view. Perfect for romantic honeymooners or those after an unforgettable treat.

Camel racing at Al-Shahaniya
Just 60km outside of Doha, take a trip to the camel racing track at Al-Shahaniya where races take place every Friday between November and February. Traditionally known as the ‘Sport of the Sheiks’, camel racing is a firm favourite in Arabian culture and this is the country’s most popular track so if you can fit a visit in, it’s well worth it.

Al Zubarah Fort
Abandoned in the early 1900’s, the walled coastal town Al Zubarah once had trading links with the Indian Ocean and Western Asia, but now remains a ghost village of ruins and remains, with the fort being the key highlight. Occupied until the mid 1980’s, the fort is now a museum displaying the findings uncovered in the nearby area such as coins and exquisite pottery. Open daily, this attraction shouldn’t be missed and offers a glimpse into Qatar’s rich history and heritage.

Al Khor
Located just 50km from Doha’s centre, you’ll find the city of Al Khor; once a famed area for pearl diving and now home to a charming harbour and beautiful beaches. Enjoy a spot of shopping in the Al Khor Mall, visit the mini-golf course in the large park area, and head to Al Thakhira beach where you’ll find beautiful mangroves and pearl boats.

"When visiting Qatar be sure to take a Dune Safari. The adrenaline rush and spectacular views are amazing, on a clear day you can see Saudi Arabia and you stop at an inland sea for a swim and a BBQ while watching the sun go down".
