Qatar is famed for its thriving arts and culture scene, with a plethora of museums, galleries and theatres to visit during your trip, here are few of our highlights.

Souq Waqif

One of the key highlights of Qatar is the Souq Waqif, a must-visit to pick up souvenirs and feast on the vibrant atmosphere. The souq is best visited in the evening, particularly Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights where the ambience takes on a more colourful vibe, and you can pick up local and traditional goods including spices, perfumes and beautiful fabrics. The souq offers more than just fantastic shopping; there are also plenty of places to grab a bite to eat or a coffee in an outdoor café where you can sit back and watch the world go by.

Museum of Islamic Art
14 centuries of art and culture sit under one roof at this wonderful museum that puts on a magnificent display of fine art and artefacts. The collections are as diverse as they are beautiful, and the building itself is as impressive. The museum’s architecture has fast become an iconic feature on Doha’s landscape as ancient Islamic style meets contemporary construction; and the interior is no less spectacular with the atrium sure to leave you speechless. The museum is well worth a visit if you’re looking to divulge in a spot of Arabian history, culture and art.

Katara Cultural Village
Offering something altogether more modern, this purpose-built village is home to impressive theatres, galleries and concert halls where live shows and exhibitions take place throughout the year. You’ll also find a variety of restaurants within the complex’s walls, as well as a public beach offering watersports and beautiful public gardens. The village was born out of the country’s idea for placing Qatar as a cultural, artistic beacon and it has certainly achieved that status. See the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra perform at the Opera House, watch a play at the Amphitheatre and wander the pretty gardens, soaking up the green space that contrasts beautifully with the surrounding desert.

"The Museum of Islamic Art is fast becoming part of the Doha skyline, this modern architectural building over looks the creek and provides great views of the creek from the outside, whilst the inside is a real eye opener on Islamic culture and traditions".
