Highlights of the North Tour

Discover wonderful local life and incredible mountain scenery on this five day tour. Begin your journey in Manila where you will drive north to Banaue, home to the 2,000 year old rice terraces. Visit native villages and mingle with the locals at the public market, before heading further north to the Ifugao burial caves and the breath-taking beauty of Mount Data. Your final stop is the city of Baguio, the summer capital of the Philippines. Perfect for nature lovers and those wanting an authentic cultural experience, this tour is highly recommended.

Depart Manila for Banaue (approximately 360 km). Travel north on the express way and Cagayan Valley Road until you reach the town of Bagabag in Nueva Vizcaya. Here you will climb 1,300 metres above sea level to Banaue. Check-in to your hotel late afternoon and the rest of the day is at leisure.

After breakfast depart the hotel and board a local jeepney for a ride to Banga-an native village, accessible a short hike from the road. After spending some time in the village, continue to the vantage point to view and admire the amazing 2,000 year old rice terraces. Afterwards, proceed to the town's public market to mingle with the local people and view the vast array of native handicrafts. Time permitting, visit another village before returning to your hotel in the afternoon.

Today you will drive north along the winding mountain trail past the hinterland town of Bontoc, where the museum founded by the Belgian Sisters is visited. Weather conditions permitting, visit the Ifugao burial caves in Sagada and mingle with the natives. Continue to drive through the winding narrow road passing incredible natural beauty until you reach Mount Data. You will either spend the night at Mount Data Lodge or if the weather conditions are not favourable you will spend the night in Bontoc.

Today you will continue driving through majestic scenery, this time to Baguio City, the county's summer capital. Embark on a city tour to include Session Road, Burnham Park and Mansion House, the President's summer residence. The highlight of the tour is the public market where villagers come to sell their goods.

After breakfast, check-out of the hotel and travel back to Manila via the National highway passing through Luzon's Central Plain. You will arrive in Manila in the evening where we recommend you spend the night before continuing on with your onward journey.
