Underground River

The Underground River is located 80km (50 miles) north of the city Puerto Princesa in Palawan, and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that was recently awarded the title '7th New Wonder of the Natural World'.

The river is 24km (15 miles) in length and 5.1 miles of this is underground. The river winds through the eerie yet stunning cave system before flowing directly in to the West Philippine Sea.

A trip down the Underground River means you will almost definitely see lots of macaque monkeys as well as the some of the endemic species such as the tabon bird, white breasted sea eagles and the Palawan hornbill. The canoe tour will last approximately 45 minutes and you'll experience the natural beauty of stalagmites and stalactites that took thousands of years to form. Keep your eyes peeled also for the bats that live within the cave and like to flit about during the day.
