Luxurious accommodations, great staff

San Francisco, California

The worst thing about this resort was leaving. I almost didn’t book this place due to lots of iffy reviews, but our travel agent insisted it was one of the best and I’m so glad I listened. We were picked up from the airport and transferred to the resort via speed boat, where we spent a wonderful 3 nights in a beach villa. Beautiful accommodations, excellent staff, and the location was pure paradise. Villa/Bathroom: Gorgeous, spotless, huge, and luxurious. Attention to detail was very evident in the room and by our room attendant. He noticed that we liked extra towels and that my husband drank only caffeinated coffee, so he kept the room stocked accordingly. All the in-room amenities you’d expect at a five star resort, and then some. The souvenirs placed everywhere were such a nice touch! Our porch was so nice and we woke up every morning to gorgeous breezy beach views. Notes if you’re super picky: shower water temperature fluctuated, hot water is not endless if you like long showers, and some things in the room didn’t work as expected and had to be fixed. Food: As mentioned in other reviews, this is where the resort falls short. Food was simple and okay at the pool bar. The main restaurant was a bit frustrating - they were out of a lot of things during our stay and that meant that they just took entire items off the menu and/or served things with missing ingredients. Understandably, it’s a tiny remote island and everything is shipped in, but my suggestion would be for them to have a daily menu highlighting the ingredients they do have instead of just deleting everything that’s not available. Also, service was sometimes very slow and food was super expensive - you could easily spend $200 on dinner for two without alcohol. Otherwise, flavors and quality were pretty good with one or two exceptions. Breakfast was decent and the buffet was kept up well. They rotated some options every day. Activities: This was a highlight and one of the main reasons that we chose El Nido Resorts. We did island hopping, kayaking at the Big Lagoon, sailing, and the guided sunrise hike (free), and then chartered a boat to take us island hopping (not free). Everything was amazing and the deck hands and guides were so helpful and attentive. They have so many other things to choose from, so I wish we had a week to try them all. The weather sunny but very windy during our stay, and they did their best to find calm spots for us while out on the boat. There were also some plankton in several spots (they sting), so watch out for those. Facilities: Beautiful and serene. We got amazing hilot massages at the spa. Gym was tiny with some cardio equipment and dumbbells, but it’s there if you need it. Restaurants, bar, and pool were beautiful. There is a lot of cool wildlife around the resort (giant lizards, monkeys, hermit crabs). Bugs weren’t really a problem, but upon the advice of others and the staff, we didn’t leave the room without applying bug spray. The overall vibe was tropical beach paradise meets tamed jungle and we loved it. If they improve the food situation, it would be perfect. Pangalusian felt like paradise and I can’t wait to return. Note: we didn’t realize this, but we got to use the VIP lounge in Manila and Lido airports since we stayed at this resort. We also got to board first in Manila. This was a nice surprise - keep an ear open for them calling your name after you check in so you don’t miss this!

Great Resort

Manila, Philippines

We stayed in this Island Resort for 3 days. I love every experience we had in here especially the service. You would expect for the food to be a bit pricey but for me it’s a given since you are in an island and so many logistics involved to make everything available at a good quality. They offer free activities like the island where they took us to the snake island and other one with a cave. You have to coordinate with the activity officer if you want to maximize the free activities they have in the resort. Since there are only 45 villas, you get that feeling of exclusivity and in most times you will feel like you own the beach because there’s not much people on sight. There are monitor lizards just roaming around the property and the sights of birds and if you’re lucky like me, you might be able to see a palawan hornbill. The service was superb. We arrived early around 9am and we were welcomed by the staff and manager and were given a wash room which is another villa where we can stay, rest and take a shower while waiting for our assigned room at 2pm. The night before our check out day, they informed us that our check out time is 2pm since our flight is 5 in the afternoon.
