El Nido Resorts Lagen Island

Subdued elegance in a spectacular setting

With a truly magnificent setting, this private island resort is carved against a backdrop of striking limestone cliffs looking out across a tranquil lagoon. The emphasis here is all about nature, marine activities and above all else complete and utter relaxation. Days can be spent enjoying the variety of complimentary activities on offer including snorkelling, island hopping to the nearby beach clubs, kayaking on the lagoons or just simply relaxing by the pool. A small spa offers a variety of pampering treatments and little ones will be well looked after at the kids club. Meals can be taken at the clubhouse buffet restaurant, from the a la carte snack menu at the pool bar, or even at the restaurant of the nearby sister hotel on Miniloc Island. Guest rooms are spacious with recycled timber floors and furnishings, but the real highlight here are the overwater bungalows, ideal to really treat yourself.

truly an eco sanctuary with outstanding hospitality team

Washington DC, District of Columbia

My husband and I stayed at Lagen Island for 4 nights and it was the perfect blend of relaxation and island activities. We stayed in the Forest Room which suited us nicely. The Forest Rooms are tucked into the trees facing the pool which faces the lagoon, so the view is lovely. The island itself is like a paradise - one side of the island faces a lagoon, it is also set against a limestone forest backdrop. You can hike a trail from one end of the island to a quiet cove on the other side. I highly recommend the hike as it is a magical experience. We saw all kinds of wildlife and beautiful fauna on our hike. The hike is quite strenuous but serves as great exercise. We were almost always alone on the trail. Once you reach the cove, you get the beach to yourself. The most memorable and special part of the resort is the staff, and I have never encountered a team that went so far above and beyond. The food is delicious and varied everyday. One evening, we casually mentioned how much we loved the Filipino sticky rice dessert to one of the dining staff, Jude, and he told us it tastes best with black coffee because of the taste combinations. The next morning when we went down for breakfast, another staff member brought us a slice of sticky rice Jude had saved just for us from the night before. That kind of thoughtfulness is truly unforgettable! The resort also plans great activities with complimentary sunrise and sunset cruises around the island. My only complaint which I believe came down to the language barrier was the activity coordination. You have to be very very clear and precise about what activities you want or some things may get lost in translation. However, the activities coordinator onsite does seek you out to confirm the activities planned every single day so we still got exactly what we wanted, with a bit of back and forth. We booked a private tour for the island hopping and it was very much worth it. Our guide Arvin even gave me his own sandals to wear when we visited the small lagoon because I was hesitant about getting my Italian leather sandals wet (poor footwear choice on my part). They even added in a complimentary extra stop at the end of our island hopping tour. I don't need to explain much about the natural beauty of Lagen Island because the photos show for itself, but the team is what made our stay extraordinary!

BEWARE!!

New York City, New York

We never made it, our traveler's got very, VERY sick... so 3 days ahead of time I emailed and called and let them know. We were staying at a sister property in El Nido, and a boat ride is required to get there. They told me on the phone it was fine to cancel. Then they never refunded me and I had to dispute it on my credit card. I am DISGUSTED at the back office for their treatment. I had every intention to go and we were really looking forward to it. They did not care about the sickness and had no sympathy and offered no help AFTER telling me it was fine and to cancel online. I am still so shocked and disgusted by them. It has taken me 3 months to be able to be calm enough to write this review!
