Events & Festivals
Festivals and events are wonderful to include during your Manila holiday, offering a glimpse into the country’s authentic culture and traditions.
Join in the celebrations of Manila Day on the 24th June, which is a public holiday in the city. The festivities honour the day the city was founded by Miguel López de Legaspi in 1571. If you are fortunate enough to be in the city during this festival, make sure you take part in the many activities that happen across the district, such as the Balik-Tankaw sa Maynila photo exhibit, and delicious feasts that are prepared by locals to remember and celebrate their traditions and culture.
Ninoy Aquino Day
Take part in the Philippines’ national non-working holiday on 21st August, which commemorates the assassination of the former Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino, Jr. During his life, Aquino was an influential and inspirational Filipino political figure who fought for free democracy and independence. Find local events in the city such as parades, speeches and other celebratory activities that honour his life and continue his battle of free democracy.
