Amorita Resort

Embodying the natural treasures of Bohol

With its enviable location atop a small limestone cliff overlooking Alona Beach, Amorita Resort is a great base for holidays to Bohol. This contemporary resort has two wings, each offering an infinity pool with sea views - the perfect alternative if you fancy a break from the powdery white sands of the beach below. Meals are served at the Saffron Restaurant, with a wide variety of local and international dishes plus an extensive wine list this casual venue comes highly recommended. Guest rooms are split between both wings of the resort and offer contemporary accommodation with either garden or sea views. If you like to get out and explore the local area, there are a selection of bars and restaurants along the beach, alternatively you can take a short walk from the front of the hotel where you will find some small shops and more bars and restaurants. In our opinion Amorita Resort offers the perfect combination of a peaceful beachfront hotel, but still with easy access to all the amenities of the popular Alona Beach area.

Almost Awesome Amorita

Portland, Oregon

Bohol is a staple travel destination for us. This is my 5th time and my husband’s 7th time on the island. We know of Amorita and have dined in their restaurant before but we never really got around to actually booking here since we have a preferred luxury Bohol resort. Finally we decided to try Amorita in 2019 and overall we had a great time. But as my title for this review says, it is “Almost Awesome”, the word being “Almost” and here is why: PROS + CUSTOMER SERVICE - The staff was outstanding, very reminiscent of Discovery Shores Boracay where the check-in/check-out, airport transfer was seamless, a personal concierge to attend to our needs, butler services by the pool—somebody cleans your glasses and gives out popsicles. And in the rooms, The minibar is free and they have little surprises that are well appreciated ie. Champagne, cookies, fruits, coconuts, your own mini coffee bar, and turn-down service. The works. COMMON AREAS: lobby, pools, restaurants, and views were phenomenal and oozing with style and eco-friendliness AZOTEA & TOMAR: The Azotea pizzas were gastronomically outstanding and the tapas at the Tomar were decent INTERNET: The wifi/internet was very fast and actually surprisingly efficient considering Philippines’ overall internet issues. We were really pleasantly surprised. CONS - GARDEN POOL VILA: The main flaw that we did not appreciate that’s why I can’t give Amorita a perfect score, is the underwhelming Garden Pool Villa. The Garden Pool Villa is one of their most expensive rooms and it definitely was not worth the money. We are “villa/suite addicts” and only stay this way when possible. We’ve been to around the country and also outside of PH to know enough that their pool villa is NOT up to scratch in this level. And I hope that management will take the suggestions/comments into consideration. First of all the room’s overall design was basic, a templated box without any distinct character. It was sad and looked like an executive office. The AC was positioned in a way that doesn’t reach the bed so it’s not comfortable. We had to turn the ceiling fan ON while the AC was also ON just to circulate the air into the bed area. The pool deck also did not have a ceiling fan—it’s so basic. The pool area has stagnant air, no airflow at all, so it feels like a sauna. A simple fan would have made a huge difference and at this price point, it’s a little rude to guests not to have thought of comfort. The bathroom amenities were C-H-E-A-P. There’s no other word for it. The toothbrush/toothpaste set is the same quality you’d find at a 2-3 star hotel. The tissues are laughable! I’m a little offended that somebody in the team/owner thought it was okay to charge high-end luxury prices on a pool villa that provided cheap toiletries. SAFFRON RESTAURANT: Saffron restaurant needs to change ASAP. We ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner here and all the food we ordered were either of two combos: Bland and Dry OR Overly Sauced and Sweet. OVERALL VALUE FOR MONEY - I think it's a little "off" that the price of Amorita is the same as prices of other luxury resorts in the area that have their own private beach. As mentioned before, we have been to Bohol several times before and stay in the other luxury resorts in the area so we are well aware of how Amorita fares with the other resorts. FYI, Amorita DOES NOT have its own private beach in case you think they do. Overall, I wish I could have given a better review because the staff were really great and the common areas were stunning. I think that I can still recommend Amorita, but avoid the pool villa. If you like pool villas, there are better options on the island in the same luxury category.
