A small collection of islands, close to the town of Paracas, The Ballestas Islands are located with the Paracas District of the Pisco Province in the Inca Region, on the south coast of Peru.   The islands are chiefly formed from rock and are a sanctuary for numerous marine life, including the guanay guano bird, the tendril and the blue-footed booby.   Penguins and seals are common on the island too. You can reach the islans by tour boat from Paracas and have fun being greeted on land by sea lions. This is a great experience for any eco-concious traveller and one of the most popular and well known on the coast of Peru.
